摘要： The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer program products for determining an ammunition round count by resistive encoding. According to one embodiment, a system for providing an indication of a number of rounds of ammunition in a magazine of a firearm includes a follower for the rounds to rest upon, where the follower is internal to the magazine and pushes the follower and the rounds toward a mouth of the magazine to facilitate feeding the rounds into the firearm. The system also includes a resistive strip membrane potentiometer sensor arranged substantially along a length of the magazine that generates an output voltage when a first and a second circuit are connected by applying pressure to a surface of the sensor. The output voltage varies based on a position where the pressure is applied to the surface of the sensor and the first and second circuits are connected. A power source, such as a battery or AC/DC adapter, applies power to the system which contains a constant current source to generate and provide an input voltage to the resistive strip membrane potentiometer sensor. A wiper applies pressure to the surface of the sensor and connects the first and second circuits. The wiper is a non- conductive mechanism attached to the follower and configured to move along the length of the magazine corresponding to the resistive strip membrane potentiometer sensor. A round counter converts the output voltage generated by the resistive strip membrane potentiometer sensor into an indication of the number of rounds of ammunition in the firearm magazine (“round count data”).

摘要： An electronic position encoder includes a scale and detector. The detector includes a field generating coil (FGC) having elongated portions (EPs) bounding a generated field area (GFA) aligned with sensing windings, to provide position signals responsive to the scale interacting with the generated field. Sensing elements and EPs are fabricated in “front” layers of the detector. A transverse conductor portion (TCP) fabricated in a “rear” layer connects the EP of the FGC via feedthroughs. A shield region in a layer between the front and rear layers intercepts at least a majority of a projection of the TCP toward the front layers to eliminate undesirable signal effects. The FGC feedthroughs generate GFC feedthrough stray fields. Feedthrough pairs that connect sensing winding signals to rear layers of the detector are specially configured to mitigate undesirable signal effects that may otherwise result from their coupling to the GFC feedthrough stray fields.

摘要： This disclosure presents an apparatus to improve the indication of an amount that a fluid valve is opened. The fluid control assembly includes an improved position sensor assembly (PSA), where the PSA uses rollers rather than sliding within the PSA housing. The rollers, which can be wheels, ball bearings, and other types of rolling devices, can reduce the friction experienced by the moving component within the PSA. Since the PSA mechanism can move with less friction, the coupled valve magnetic assembly (VMA) can also be enhanced. The VMA can utilize magnets in orientations that enhance the magnetic tensile and compressive forces. For example, some magnets in the VMA can be in a perpendicular orientation to improve directional control and some magnets can be in an angled orientation to reduce the spread of the magnetic field flux lines between the magnets of the VMA and the magnets of the PSA.
