    • A sewage collection and separation tank (10) and method of construction is described. The sewage tank is built on a prepared earthen site (21) and is comprised of a tank floor (11) constructed from multiple wedge shaped concrete floor sections (13, 15, 17 and 19) that encase a first elastomeric gasket (37) mounted around the perimeter of a centrally located sump pump pit (23). A second elastomeric gasket (41) is mounted in a side (13c) of the first section so that half of the second gasket remains exposed. The tank floor is completed when the fourth section is poured. By the time the fourth section of the tank floor is poured, the first section has cured to the point that the first section will not seal against the wet concrete of the fourth section. However, a side (19e) of the fourth section, adjacent to the first section, encases the exposed half of the second gasket. This provides a liquid impervious seal between the adjacent first and fourth sections. Without the second gasket, the first and fourth sections would not be capable of sealing against each other. The sewage tank is completed by continual interlocking sidewall panels (25) that are mounted around the perimeter of the tank floor and by interlocking roof panels (not shown) mounted on the wall panels and supported by columns (not shown).

    • A system for leaching septic effluent is disclosed which includes a concrete distribution box having inlet and outlet openings formed therein located at different levels. An open-topped tray pivotally mounted in the distribution box at a level located between the levels of the inlet and outlet openings and has a counterweight secured to one side side of its pivotal mounting and a first stop to maintain the tray in a horizontal position against the action of the counterweight when the tray is empty. The tray is located to receive effluent from the inlet opening and the counterweight is dimensioned to be overcome by effluent in the tray when a predetermined amount of effluent is in the tray. As a result, the tray pivots against the influence of the counterweight away from its first stopped position to empty the tray and discharge the predetermined amount of effluent to the outlet openings. A second stop is formed in the box to limit pivotal movement of the tray away from the first stopped position to a predetermined effluent emptying position.

    • Baffles for septic tank ports are of a plastic stock that is inert with respect to reagents commonly existing in them. Each baffle is so dimensioned that its side edges engage the interior surfaces of the tank on opposite sides of incoming or exiting flow paths and is provided with laterally projecting resilient flanges spaced inwardly of the side edges and when seated against and secured to interior surfaces of the tank they maintain the side edges in linear contact with the interior of the tank. Each baffle is also provided at its upper end with hangers adjacent its side edges that extend over the top of a tank and become anchored in mortar when the tank cover is in place.

    • A thin-walled, one-piece plastic tank for subterranean storage and transmission of sewage or other materials. The tank comprises a bottom wall, an arched top wall and opposed end walls. The top wall is substantially semi-circular in cross-section with a plurality of corrugations therearound. Along the apex area of the arch is a pair of manhole-like openings with an arced strengthening rib therebetween. The bottom wall is generally arced in cross-section with a radius very large compared to the radius of the cross-section of the top wall which causes the bottom wall to be generally flat. The end walls are arced in the longitudinal, cross-sectional and horizontal planes. The end walls each have a plurality of corrugations. In the root of one of the corrugations is a depression which contains a horizontal aperture for the egress or ingress of fluid materials. The bottom wall has a plurality of corrugations mating with the top wall corrugations such that the corrugations circumscribe the tank. Further, the bottom wall has a pair of regions one adjacent each end wall which contain a plurality of triangular indentations in a truss-like configuration.
