    • A control cable adjustment device for adjusting a control cable extending between a control mechanism and an operating mechanism. The adjustment device includes an adjuster rotatably connected to a housing of the control mechanism and a spring element having at least one retention segment. The retention segment engages a detent contour of the adjuster to retain the adjuster in its current position. Another segment of the spring element may have a second function as a return spring for a gear shifter or a brake lever. However, if the spring element does not serve a dual purpose, the spring element has a support segment that is braced against an existing control cable insertion opening in the housing of the control mechanism.

    • A brake cable connecting apparatus ensures prevention of brake cable disengagement by a simple structure that offers simple and accurate assemblability. The brake cable connecting apparatus comprises the strut 23 engaging with the brake shoe 12 and the plate-like brake lever engaging with the brake shoe 13. The proximal portion 24a of the brake lever 24 is pivotally positioned in the wider space 23c formed between the two facing surface walls of the strut 23. The cable end 42 of the brake cable 40 is connected with the free end 24e of the brake lever 24 by the connecting pin 43. The inner cable 41 is operated to effectuate braking, and the projection 24g of the free end 24e interferes with the resilient stopper 33 of the resilient member 30 mounted on the strut 23 and is positioned on the rotating trajection of the brake lever 24.

    • A cable harness assembly is provided on a bicycle for guiding a disk brake control hose in accompaniment of the cable stoppers brazed on a bicycle frame. The cable harness assembly basically has a hose hanger, a hanger stopper, a stopper bushing and a hanger fixing bolt. The hose hanger includes a body portion of a first outer diameter or width and formed with a first axial bore therethrough, and a cable portion extending from the body portion. The hanger stopper of a second outer diameter or width is smaller than the first outer diameter or width. The hanger stopper is formed with a halting piece extending from the hanger stopper and a second axial bore therethrough. The stopper bushing is sandwiched between the hose hanger and the hanger stopper and formed with a third axial bore therethrough. The stopper bushing is made of a radially expandable material and has a third outer diameter or width being normally approximate to the second outer diameter or width. The hanger fixing bolt is used for assembling the hose hanger, the hanger stopper, and the stopper bushing together by being fastened through the first axial bore of the hose hanger, the third axial bore of the stopper bushing, and the second axial bore of the hanger stopper. The third outer diameter or width of the stopper bushing increases when the fixing bolt is fastened to the second axial bore of the hanger stopper forcing the hose hanger and the hanger stopper to press against the stopper bushing. A further embodiment including a hose hanger and a stopper bushing is disclosed where the stopper bushing will rotate and skew with respect to the hose hanger while performing the fastening operation.

    • In a parking brake for a motor vehicle, an operating lever is mounted pivotally on a console and an operating-lever locking pawl is mounted pivotally on the operating lever and has a second row of teeth which can be engaged in the first row of teeth for locking the parking brake. A cable-tensioning disc is rotatably mounted on a support arm which is pivotally supported on the console. An operating cable is fastened to the cable-tensioning disc such that it can be wound up by a cable-tensioning spring on the cable-tensioning disc, which is provided with a third row of teeth. A carry-along locking pawl, supported on the operating lever, has a fourth row of teeth for engagement with the third row of teeth and is pivotable between a start position in which a pilot tooth of the fourth row of teeth is disposed at a smaller distance from the third row of teeth than the other teeth of the fourth row of teeth so that it first makes contact with the teeth of the third row of teeth when the carry-along locking pawl approaches the third row of teeth.

    • A brake and lock device includes a lever pivotally connected with a fork of a bicycle, a brake shoe attached to the lever for braking a wheel and a lock attached to the lever for locking the wheel. The lock includes a core for receiving a key and a latch connected with the core for locking the wheel. The core includes a first end for receiving the key and a second end connected with the latch. The first end of the core defines a keyhole. The core includes a mandrel extending from the second end thereof for connection with the latch. The latch defines a recess for receiving the mandrel and two holes in communication with the recess. The mandrel defines a hole. A pin can be inserted through the holes defined in the latch and in the mandrel. The latch may include a protective sleeve mounted thereon. The mandrel can be rotated so that the latch can be pivoted to interfere with spokes of a wheel mounted in the fork.
