    • An electric mechanical brake assembly includes a brake caliper housing, a ballscrew subassembly at least partially located within the housing, first and second electric motors, and at least three gears. A linearly-movable member of the ballscrew subassembly is attachable to a brake pad and is driven by a rotatable actuation shaft of the ballscrew subassembly. The gears operatively connect the drive shafts of the electric motors to the actuation shaft of the ballscrew subassembly. An electric-mechanical-brake motor subassembly includes first and second electric motors, a motor plate, and at least three gears. The electric motors are attached to the motor plate, and the motor plate is attachable to a brake caliper housing. The gears are operatively connectable to the motor drive shafts and to a rotatable actuation shaft, of a ballscrew subassembly at least partially located within the housing, for the drive shafts to rotate the actuation shaft.

    • A park brake system for vehicles is provided that has an actuator with an electric drive motor and an electronic control unit provided with an interface. A reduction gear has an input connected to the output of the electric motor and an output member for connection to mechanical brakes of the vehicle. A command unit has a transducer connected to the electronic control unit. The transducer converts position indication signals into appropriate digital signals to enable the control unit to generate corresponding brake control commands. With appropriate control signals from the electronic control unit, the mechanical brake system can thus reflect positional brake commands from the command unit within an operating range from OFF to ON, including partial activation conditions of the park brake.

    • An electric caliper having a housing mounted adjacent a rotatable disc. First and second force applying elements support a friction element between the housing and the rotatable disc. An electric actuator is mounted in the housing and is operatively connected to the first and second force applying elements. The electric actuator is operable to move the first and second force applying elements and the friction element toward, and away from, the disc and cause the friction element to frictionally contact the disc. A method is also provided for applying first and second forces against a friction element in response to an operation of an electric motor. The first and second forces are applied with respective magnitudes so as to maintain a substantially constant wear between the edges of the first friction element.

    • An anti-skid control system for an automotive vehicle includes a hydraulic modulator having electromagnetic solenoid valves for regulating a wheel-brake cylinder pressure at each of road wheels. A skid control unit prevents a wheel lock-up condition by controlling the wheel-brake cylinder pressure via on/off reaction of the solenoid valves in response to a pulse signal based on a wheel speed detected by a wheel speed sensor. The skid control unit has a data processing section that generates a desired wheel speed based on the wheel speed, calculates a desired brake-fluid pressure based on an integrated value of a wheel-speed deviation between the desired wheel speed and the wheel speed, sets a controlled ON pulse width based on the desired brake-fluid pressure, and outputting the pulse signal having the controlled pulse width to the solenoid valves after a lapse of a preset pulse width from a previous pulse signal output.
