    • An anti-skid control apparatus for a vehicle includes fluid pressure control valve devices arranged between a tandem master cylinder and the front wheels of the vehicle, and a control unit receiving outputs of wheel speed sensors to assess skid conditions of the wheels and to control the valve devices. The apparatus discriminates between "low side" and "high side" of the road by assessing skid conditions of either the rear wheels or the front wheels. The braking pressure of the rear or front wheel that is on the low side and that of the wheel connected diagonally to it are controlled in either a "select-high" or a "select-low" manner, and the pressures of the other diagonally opposite wheels are controlled in the opposite manner. In the alternative, the apparatus may assess the skid condition of the one rear wheel based on the larger of the braking frictional coefficients of the sides of the road, on the basis of the acceleration and slip conditions of the one rear wheel, while it judges the skid condition of the other rear wheel on the smaller one of the braking frictional coefficients of the sides of the road only on the basis of the acceleration condition of the other rear wheel, and the braking pressures of the respective conduit systems are controlled in the select-low manner.

    • An antiskid brake control system comprises: braking force adjusting device for decreasing and increasing a braking force to be applied to at least one wheel so that the wheel is prevented from being locked at the time of braking a vehicle with the braked wheel; wheel speed detecting device for detecting the speed of the wheel to which the braking force is applied; wheel deceleration detecting device for detecting acceleration/deceleration of the wheel to output information on the deceleration of the wheel; decreasing amount calculation device for receiving the information on the vehicle deceleration, and for outputting a signal indicative of a decrease in the braking force to the braking force adjusting device when detecting a tendency of the wheel to lock wherein the wheel deceleration exceeds a given value; first deceleration period measurement device for measuring the period where the pressure-decreasing signal is being outputted, and for outputting information on the first deceleration period; maximum deceleration detecting device for detecting the maximum value of the wheel deceleration; second deceleration period measurement device for starting to measure the lapse of a period from the time when the maximum value of the wheel deceleration has been detected, and for outputting information on the second deceleration period; and increasing amount calculation device for finding a control amount required to increase the braking force, based on the information on the first deceleration period and on the information on the second deceleration period, and for outputting the required control amount to the braking force adjusting device.

    • An anti-skid brake control system detects braking condition on at least two wheels for detecting synchronous braking condition in the wheels. Increasing of braking fluid pressure in one wheel cylinder associated with one of the wheels is delayed with respect to the brake fluid pressure increasing timing of the other wheel cylinder associated with the other wheel. By delaying increasing of the braking pressure, the braking fluid pressure in one of the wheel cylinder is maintained lower than that in the other. Therefore, when one of the wheel, for which higher braking pressure is applied through the associated wheel cylinder, the other wheel is maintained at non-locking state. Therefore, the wheel speed closely reflects the actual vehicle speed. This assures acurate brake control in the anti-skid brake control for the automotive vehicle utilizing the vehicle speed representing value derived based on the rotation speed of non-locking wheel.
