    • An apparatus and a method of generating a carburizing atmosphere are provided which can stably generate a reformed gas containing carbon monoxide of high concentration that is suitably used as a carburizing atmosphere. As a reforming furnace, a first reforming furnace 14 and a second reforming furnace 15 which are connected in series are disposed. A first cooler 22 serving as moisture removing means for removing moisture in an intermediate reformed gas which is led out from the first reforming furnace and to be introduced into the second reforming furnace, and a hydrocarbon adding section 24 which adds hydrocarbon to the intermediate reformed gas are disposed in a passage between the first and second reforming furnaces. A raw material mixed gas in a condition where a mixture ratio of hydrocarbon is low is introduced into the first reforming furnace to cause a catalytic reaction, thereby generating the intermediate reformed gas. Moisture contained in the intermediate reformed gas is then removed away. Hydrocarbon is added to the intermediate reformed gas. The intermediate reformed gas is then introduced into the second reforming furnace to cause a catalytic reaction, to generate a carburizing atmosphere.

    • The present invention relates to a pozzolanic admixture containing ammonia-laden fly ash, method for making the pozzolanic admixture and method for controlling ammonia gas (NH3) emission from cementitious slurries using the pozzolanic admixture. The associated hypochlorite and ammonia reaction produces monochloramine and chloride salts at relatively low concentration levels harmless to concrete and concrete applications. The resulting monochloramine and chloride salt products are stable and do not dissipate into the air, thereby, eliminating odorous emission that is produced from cementitious slurry containing untreated ammonia laden fly ash. This invention relates to the method of adding hypochlorites (OClnull) in the form of calcium hypochloritenullCa(OCl)2, lithium hypochloritenullLiOCl, sodium hypochlorite NaOCl or trichloro-s-triazinetrionenullC3N3O3Cl3 to the ammonia-ladden fly ash at dosage levels, based on ammonia concentration in ash and stoichiometry, for a complete or partial oxidation of ammonia to eliminate, or respectively reduce, ammonia gas evolution from the high pH cementitious slurries.
