摘要： A vibratory screening machine including a frame, a vibratory motor on said frame, a bed on the frame, a plurality of screens on the bed, a chamber below each of the screens, and a source of suction and pressure in communication with each of the chambers. A method of screening a slurry containing a mixture of fine and coarse particles and liquid including the steps of providing a vibratory screen, passing the mixture across the vibratory screen, applying suction on the opposite side of the vibratory screen from the mixture to draw liquid and fine particles from the mixture through said screen and into a chamber below the screen, and either intermittently terminating the suction or applying pneumatic pressure to the chamber.

The disc is mounted and secured onto a hollow shaft. The hollow shaft is connected to a vacuum source, external to the filter, that allows for the passage of the filtrate to a receiver. There are elongated slots in the wall of the shaft which provide the passage of filtrate from the disc. The shaft provides rotational force for the discs.

According to this invention, the device comprises a cylindrical, horizontal-axis drum of revolution, rotated by a drive system, a plurality of filtering elements each disposed axially, forming at least a part of the cylindrical wall of the drum, said filtering elements each being connected to a process conduit, a system for supplying liquid to be filtered, opening via said opening inside said drum, a system for evacuating the cake, a system for evacuating the filtrate passing through said process conduits, a hydraulic supply assembly comprising a pulsed compressed air supply and means forcing the passage of said liquid through the filtering elements, said supply assembly being adapted to communicate with said process conduits by a connecting system allowing an angular distribution of the operations effected by said device, these operations comprising at least the filtration of the liquid and the separation of the cake from said filtering elements by cleaning.

摘要： The screens of a pulp treating vessel, such as a paper pulp thickener, or diffuser, are back flushed in a simple yet effective manner. The screens are mounted to a supporting conduit within a vertical vessel, and a cylinder is connected at one open end to the conduit, and the other open end is disposed within the pulp inside the vessel. A piston is mounted within the cylinder and relative movement between the piston and cylinder is effected periodically in order to force liquid from within the cylinder into the conduit and out the screens, backflushing the screens and preventing clogging. Since no additional volume of liquid is added to the vessel during backflushing, no surge occurs in the vessel. Conventional accumulators, on/off valves, and the like can be eliminated while--in the case of diffusion washing--efficiency can be increased as much as 20-30% and capacity increased as much as about 15%.
