摘要： A disposable rotary drum filter for processing batches of slurry. The device includes an outer housing in which is disposed a rotatable inner drum that is covered with a filter material. Preferably the device is fabricated from a plastic material that is sterilizable. The inner drum is preferably magnetically coupled to an external drive unit, eliminating seals required if it were necessary for a drive shaft to pass through the housing. The inner drum rotates through a slurry. The filtrate outlet is connected to a vacuum source that draws the slurry through the filter material. Solids in the slurry are thus deposited as a filter cake on the outer surface of the filter material, while liquid from the slurry passes through the filter material to be collected as a filtrate. Air drawn into the housing through an inlet passes through the filter material and partially dries the filter cake that has been rotated out of the slurry. As the inner drum rotates, an edge formed on the housing scrapes away a portion of the filter cake, which falls into a filter cake receiver. A simple overflow outlet level limits the slurry level to a defined maximum, and an orifice formed in a fixed plate disposed in a cavity at one end of the inner drum controls pressure conditions within the device to ensure optimal fluid flow. The device is thus useful for solid-liquid separations in batch processing of many types of slurries and can be sterilized, if required.

摘要： A self-cleaning water filter, coupled to a water flow having particulates therein, that includes a pair of canisters, each having a cylindrical wedge wire water filter screen. An elongated brush running the length of the screen is disposed between two confining walls also running the length of the screen to form a chamber. A elongated partition, including two sets of apertures, is used, along with the elongated brush, to divide the chamber into two particulate dislodge chambers and a drain subchamber. A drain is in fluid communication with the drain subchamber. During cleaning, the drain is opened and the screen is rotated against the brush for liberating the particulate contaminants and a limited amount of the water flow into the two dislodge subchambers. The particulate contaminants and the limited amount of water then pass through the apertures at a high velocity and into the drain subchamber which exits through the drain. Alternatively, a reverse flow of clean water can be used in combination with the elongated brush, for dislodging the particulate contaminants from the water filter. Finally, another variation of using a reverse flow of water for cleaning purposes is discussed whereby a stationary water filter is disposed in a system that isolates the water filter from the normal water flow during cleaning.

摘要： The present invention relates to a rotating device for continuously filtering a liquid such as a solution containing a precipitate. According to this invention, the device comprises a cylindrical, horizontal-axis drum of revolution, rotated by a drive system, a plurality of filtering elements each disposed axially, forming at least a part of the cylindrical wall of the drum, said filtering elements each being connected to a process conduit, a system for supplying liquid to be filtered, opening via said opening inside said drum, a system for evacuating the cake, a system for evacuating the filtrate passing through said process conduits, a hydraulic supply assembly comprising a pulsed compressed air supply and means forcing the passage of said liquid through the filtering elements, said supply assembly being adapted to communicate with said process conduits by a connecting system allowing an angular distribution of the operations effected by said device, these operations comprising at least the filtration of the liquid and the separation of the cake from said filtering elements by cleaning.
