摘要： A polyamide precursor of a polybenzazole polymer is prepared by reacting an aromatic bis(alkenyl)ester with a ring forming, aromatic diamine. The precursor can be prepared in an organic solvent for the monomers to form a soluble polyamide precursor which can be subsequently cyclocondensed to form a PBX polymer. A polybenzoxazole precursor is prepared by the reaction of a bis(alkenyl)ester and a bis(ortho-hydroxyamine). A polybenzazole polymer is easily prepared by heating the polyamide, PBX precursor.

摘要： This invention is a process for the preparation of poly(aryl ethers) from cyclic poly(aryl ether) oligomers. These low melt viscosity cyclic oligomers undergo ring opening and chain extension upon heating in the presence of a catalyst, forming high molecular weight linear polymers with no coproduct formation. Finished thermoplastic parts and composites may be prepared using this technology with processing techniques normally restricted to thermosetting monomers.

摘要： New epoxy resins are prepared by reacting a hydroxybenzamide or derivative thereof with an epihalohydrin followed by dehydrohalogenation. These epoxy resins have crystalline melting points, self-cure at elevated temperatures and cure rapidly in the presence of the usual epoxy resin curing agents. Also disclosed are hydrolyzed products of these epoxy resins and subsequent reactions with polyisocyanates.

摘要： An organic OLED having a cathode formed from a first conducting layer, an electroluminescent layer including an oxadiazole compound, and an anode constructed from a second conducting layer which is transparent to light generated by the electroluminescent layer. In one embodiment, an electron transport layer is sandwiched between the anode and electroluminescent layers. Other embodiments utilize a hole transport layer between the electroluminescent layer and the anode either with or without the electron transport layer. In one embodiment, the anode is constructed from a layer of indium tin oxide and a layer of a hole transport material that bonds to indium tin oxide and which has an energy band intermediate between that of indium tin oxide and that of the hole transport layer.

摘要： The invention relates to 2,7-substituted-9-substituted fluorenes and 9-substituted fluorene oligomers and polymers. The fluorenes, oligomers and polymers are substituted at the 9-position with two hydrocarbyl moieties which may optionally contain one or more of sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous or silicon heteroatoms; a C.sub.5-20 ring structure formed with the 9-carbon on the fluorene ring or a C.sub.4-20 ring structure formed with the 9-carbon containing one or more heteroatoms of sulfur, nitrogen or oxygen; or a hydrocarbylidene moiety. In one embodiment, the fluorenes are substituted at the 2- and 7-positions with aryl moieties which may further be substituted with moieties which are capable of crosslinking or chain extension or a trialkylsiloxy moiety. The fluorene polymers and oligomers may be substituted at the 2- and 7'-positions. The monomer units of the fluorene oligomers and polymers are bound to one another at the 2- and 7'-positions. The 2,7'-aryl-9-substituted fluorene oligomers and polymers may be further reacted with one another to form higher molecular weight polymers by causing the optional moieties on the terminal 2,7'-aryl moieties, which are capable of crosslinking or chain extension, to undergo chain extension or crosslinking. Also disclosed are processes for preparing the disclosed compounds.
