As to the spray characteristics in an electromagnetic fuel injector of the direct injection type for use in a gasoline engine, a complex solid cone spray can be obtained, and, as a result a good ignitability of the engine can be obtained by a spray portion having a small spreading angle produced by making the inertia force strong, and the amount of the unburned gas components of the combustion can be reduced by a spray portion having a short distance or extent of travel and a large spreading angle produced by making the inertia force weak.
