    • An engine cooling apparatus capable of assuring an adequate air-water separating function in an arrangement wherein an air-water separating tank having a pressure valve is provided at a point along a coolant passageway. The apparatus has a closed circulating system constructed from an engine, a radiator and a coolant passageway connecting the engine and radiator, wherein, a coolant for cooling the engine is made to circulate in the closed circulating system from upstream to downstream, and air which mixes with the coolant is discharged outside the closed circulating system. The apparatus includes a branch passageway which branches off from a first intermediate portion of the coolant passageway and merges with the coolant passageway at a second intermediate portion thereof that is downstream of the first intermediate portion, and an air-water separating tank arranged in an intermediate portion of the branch passageway and having a pressure valve which opens to the atmosphere at a prescribed pressure in order to discharge the air to the outside of the closed circulating system.

    • An air and fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine comprises a plurality of superchargers including a turbosupercharger, an intake air cutoff valve operative selectively to be open and closed respectively for opening and closing one of separated intake passages in which a compressor of the turbosupercharger is disposed, an intake air relief valve operative selectively to be open and closed respectively for opening and closing a relief passage provided for detouring the compressor of the second supercharger, a cutoff valve controller operative to control the intake air cutoff valve to be closed so that the turbosupercharger is restrained from supercharging the engine and to be open so that the turbosupercharger works for supercharging the engine, a relief valve controller operative to control the intake air relief valve to be closed before the intake air cutoff valve is opened and to be open after the intake air cutoff valve is closed, an air flow sensor for detecting intake air mass flow passing through an intake passage from which the separated intake passages are branched, a fuel supply controller operative to control quantity of fuel supplied to the engine in accordance with a detection output obtained from the air flow sensor, and a fuel supply revising device operative to revise the quantity of fuel supplied to the engine when the intake air relief valve is caused to be open and closed selectively.

    • An air supply control system for an internal combustion engine comprises first and second turbosuperchargers, an exhaust cutoff valve operative to open and close one of separated exhaust passages in which a turbine of the second turbosupercharger is disposed, a first valve driving device for controlling the exhaust cutoff valve so that only the first turbosupercharger works when intake air mass flow fed to the engine is to be relatively small and both of the first and second turbosuperchargers work when the intake air mass flow is to be relatively large, an exhaust bypass valve operative to open and close an exhaust bypass passage provided for forming a partial exhaust passage detouring the exhaust cutoff valve, a second valve driving device for causing the exhaust bypass valve to open the exhaust bypass passage when intake air pressure applied to the engine reaches a predetermined value under a condition in which the intake air mass flow is to be relatively small, a waste gate valve operative to open and close a bypass passage provided for forming a partial exhaust passage detouring the turbines of the first and second turbosuperchargers, and a third valve driving device for causing the waste gate valve to open the bypass passage when the pressure of intake air reaches substantially the predetermined value under a condition in which the intake air mass flow is to be relatively large.

    • Intake system for a multiple cylinder internal combustion engine having primary and secondary passages leading to each cylinder and respectively provided with throttle valves. The primary passages for the respective cylinders are connected together through a first communicating passage of relatively large cross-sectional area and a second communicating passage of a relatively small cross-sectional area which is downstream of the first passage. One of the primary passages is provided with a shut-off valve which is located close to but downstream of the second communicating passage and adapted to be closed in idling operation or deceleration of the engine for directing the mixture totally toward the cylinder associated with the other primary passage. The primary and secondary passages leading to the same cylinder are connected together by a connecting passage downstream of the throttle valve. The connecting passage for the primary passage having the shut-off valve is located downstream of the shut-off valve so as not to weaken the function of the shut-off valve.

    • A two rotor type rotary piston engine including a casing comprised of a pair of rotor housings connected together with an intermediate housing interposed therebetween and side housings attached to the outer sides of the rotor housings to define rotor cavities. The light load and medium load intake ports are formed so that they are opened to a working chamber after the chamber is disconnected from the exhaust port and closed substantially simultaneously. The heavy load intake port is associated with a control valve which is closed under light and medium load operations.
