    • A pill dispensing system which includes a container constructed to hold a plurality of pills and that container includes a lower aperture and an upper portion. A pill lifting assembly located below the pill container includes a pill platform which lifts a pill into the upper portion of the container. A pill ejector is connected to the pill platform and the pill ejector places the pill into motion as the pill platform approaches the upper portion of the container. An exit passage communicates with the upper portion of the pill container and the exit passage is configured to receive a pill placed into motion by the ejector. A sensor is operatively connected to the exit passage such that the sensor is capable of detecting a pill moving through the exit passage. Finally, a micro-controller is operatively connected to the pill lifting assembly and the sensor. This micro-controller accepts an input representing the number of pills to be dispensed and initiates sufficient cycles of the pill lifting assembly to insure the desired number of pills are dispensed.

    • A supply apparatus for prism-shaped chip components has two relatively movable taking-in members. When the members move relative to each other, flat surfaces thereof contact each other and a parallel space is formed between the upper portions of the two taking-in members. Relative movement of the two talking-in members causes the components in a storage chamber to enter the parallel space between the upper portions of the two taking-in members. The components entering the parallel space have the same thickness-wise orientation and are lengthwise in a supply passageway in a one by one in a state. The components move downward by gravity in the supply passageway and then in a discharge passageway.

    • A toothpicks dispenser is made up of a top cover, a box embodiment, a bottom board, a holder plate, a pair of pivotal dispensing plane units jointly engaged with the holder plate by a shaft pin and retractably operable by a bias spring. The holder plate and the two symmetric dispensing plane units are integrally housed in the box embodiment which is provided with a rectangular cut at each longitudinal side wall and a flanged top opening with which the top cover is registered. The holder plate of a roof shape is made up of two symmetric oblique planes on which toothpicks are piled up. The two dispensing plane units placed under and in pivotal engagement with the holder plate are provided with a horizontal press wing tab and a vertical toothpick shooting edge on the longitudinal outer side thereof respectively. On a shoulder of each longitudinal side of the box embodiment is disposed a dispensing slot for distribution of an obliquely raised toothpick in each operation after the horizontal press wing of each dispensing plane unit is pressed and released wherein a toothpick on the oblique planes of the holder plate will drop into contact with one of the toothpick shooting edges and be popped out of one of the dispensing slot as the downwardly pressed dispensing plane unit retracts by the bias spring.

    • A vending machine for increasing consumer interest in the vending process and vended product includes a tipping mechanism. The tipping mechanism is positioned at a first end of a shelf, and modifies the orientation of an article being delivered from the shelf to a conveyor. The tipping mechanism causes the article to be tipped from an upright orientation to a perpendicular, lateral orientation. The tipping mechanism includes a ramp supported by the shelf, a spacer that provides the ramp with an incline from the shelf, and a product rotator extending from the shelf toward the conveyor. The conveyor then delivers the article to a vend port, where it is dispensed in the upright position. The conveyor may be mounted on internal elevator that carries the conveyor between one or more shelves and the vend port. A transparent window is provided on the face of the vending machine whereby a consumer can view the dispensing operations.

    • The present invention is directed to a feeder device. The feeder device receives components end-to-end in a random orientation in a vertical inlet chute and feeds each of the components one-at-time having a desired orientation to an outlet chute. The feeder device includes a rotatable disk having a central chamber therein adapted to receive each of the components, a sensing means for determining the orientation of the component, and includes a releasable gate. The disk and gate function independently, as required, between the inlet chute and the outlet chute, to sequentially release each component having the desired orientation; or to invert each component not having the desired orientation from end-to-end into the desired orientation and then to release the component, whereby each component is released one-at-a-time having a desired orientation for utilization.

The separating feeder of the present invention includes a scattering disk disposed so that the top surface thereof is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane, a transferring groove formed on the scattering disk and a cavity formed at an outer peripheral end portion of the scattering disk. When the scattering disk is rotated, chip components are dropped into the transferring groove and are aligned in a predetermined direction. After the chip components are accommodated in the cavity by gravitational force (i.e., by upward rotation of the transferring groove), separation of the chip component in the cavity from the chip components in the transferring groove can be achieved.
