    • A method and an apparatus for correcting inhomogeneous pixels of an optical modulator are provided to suppress a vertical non-uniformity of a projected image by compensating for the non-uniformity at marginal portions of driving ranges of respective pixels. A diffraction optical modulator(320) receives an incident beam from an optical source, reflects or diffracts the incident beam, and emits a modulated beam. A detector(355) detects all of the modulated beams, measures a light intensity of the modulated beam, and outputs a measured value corresponding to the light intensity. The detector is used for all pixels in the optical modulator. An image control circuit(380) extracts marginal voltages with largest and smallest measured values, compensates for an application voltage corresponding to brightness values for respective pixels of the optical modulator, and generates an image control signal for controlling the diffraction optical modulator. A driver IC(340) receives the image control signal and outputs a driving voltage for controlling the optical modulator.
