    • A paper feeding apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a conveying roller part providing the upper side of a recording medium with a conveying force in a first direction; a retard roller part facing the conveying roller part, forming a conveying nip, and providing the lower side of the recording medium with a conveying force in a second direction opposite to the first direction; a driving part driving the retard roller part; and a power transmitting part connecting the driving part and the retard roller part using a magnetic force, and providing the retard roller part with a magnetic driving force. The magnetic driving force is smaller than the conveying force, which is provided by the conveying roller part, when a sheet of the recording medium exists on the conveying nip, and is larger than a frictional force between the recording media when at least two sheets of the recording media exist on the conveying nip.

    • PURPOSE: A sheet material feed apparatus and a recording apparatus are provided to prevent the simultaneous supply of plural sheet materials, to avoid the extension of the cost and the operating time and to easily prevent the entrance of the shear edge of the sheet material into a separating block without using a complex machinery or any control. CONSTITUTION: A sheet material feed apparatus comprises sheet material stacking devices(15,16,17), a feed roller(11), a drive source, a separation roller, a separation roller holder and return device(13). The sheet material stacking device stack sheet materials. The feed roller(11) feeds the sheet materials stacked on the sheet material stacking device. The drive source drives the feed roller. The separation roller is rotated according to the feed roller to separate a sheet material. The separation roller holder holds the separation roller rotatably and the separation roller holder is rotated to thereby move the separation roller to a position in contact with the feed roller and a position apart from the feed roller. The return device(13) return the sheet materials other than the sheet material separated by the separation roller to the sheet material stacking device and the return device is controlled by one-direction rotation for driving the feed roller of the drive source. Thereby, the overlapped supply is prevented without using a complex machinery and the stability of the separating efficiency is improved without extending the supplying time.
