    • PURPOSE: A method for removing ozone using natural manganese ore catalyst having excellent catalytic activity under sever conditions is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) fabricating a catalyst made of natural manganese ore containing 60 to 95 wt.% of pyrolusite (β-MnO2) and 0.5 to 20 wt.% of iron oxide, wherein the catalyst contains 0.1 to 5.0 wt.% of transition metals such as Zn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Au, Pt, Pd, and Rh and (b) treating air or gas containing ozone at a temperature in a range of room temperature to 200°C using the catalyst obtained in the step (a), wherein the natural manganese ore catalyst is fabricated by (a1) crushing the natural manganese ore into particles having a size of 0.1-50 micrometers, (a2) adding the transition metal to the particles, (a3) dispersing the natural manganese ore particles into water, thereby obtaining natural manganese ore slurry, and (a4) coating the natural manganese ore slurry on a structure such as pallet, saddle, cylinder and metal plate.

    • PURPOSE: A method for the removal of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides is provided which can remove sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides simultaneously and effectively in a single continuous fluidized-bed reactor and treat exhaust gas on a large scale, and uses pyrolusite(beta-MnO 2 ) which is very cheap due to not requiring particular processing. CONSTITUTION: The method for the removal of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides simultaneously comprises adsorbing sulfur oxides in exhaust gas to pyrolusite to produce sulfide of manganese, which is expressed as the following reaction formula 1, and reducing nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas by selective catalytic reduction method using said sulfide of manganese as catalyst, while using ammonia as reducing agent, which is expressed as the following reaction formula 2 and 3: (reaction formula 1), wherein Me is metal, (reaction formula 2), (reaction formula 3).

    • PURPOSE: A monolith honeycomb having superior durability is provided to remove noxious exhaust gas components such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds contained in exhaust gas by adsorption or catalytic reaction, and a method for preparing the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of providing manganese dust by milling pyrolusite based natural manganese ore having a principal ingredient of MnO2 to an average particle size of 5 micrometer or less; providing a clay by kneading a mixture for preparing clay comprising 70 to 95 wt.% of the manganese dust and 5 to 30 wt.% of bentonite; aging the clay by leaving the clay alone at a temperature of 1 to 30 deg.C for 1 to 3 days; providing a monolith honeycomb by molding the aged clay in a vacuum extrusion molding machine; and cutting the monolith honeycomb to a certain size, drying the cut monolith honeycomb in a microwave dryer, and firing the dried monolith honeycomb at a temperature of 400 to 500 deg.C for 1 to 5 hours.
