    • PURPOSE: A method for fractioning and purifying a physiologically active substance from ginseng leaves and stems is provided to stably obtain expensive ginseng extracts and to show competitive pricing of an ingredient. CONSTITUTION: A method for fractioning and purifying a physiologically active substance from ginseng leaves and stems comprises the steps of: collecting ginseng leaves or stems and naturally drying or freeze-drying the ginseng leaves or stems; pulverizing the dried ginseng leaves and stems to prepare an ingredient; putting the ingredient into an extraction container and adding a solvent in a weight ratio of 1:1.5-3.0; repetitively extracting the ingredient in a water bath with a temperature of 40-60°C using a reflux condenser for 8 hours three times and defatting; collecting the solvent; adding 50-90% ethanol to the ingredient in a ratio of 1:1.5-3.0; extracting the ingredient in a water bath with a temperature of 60-80°C using the reflux condenser for 6-8 hours three times; concentrating the extract; dissolving the extract with 90 % or less methanol (MeOH) in a weight ratio of 1:5-10; injecting the dissolved solution to a separatory funnel and adding n-hexane in a weight ratio of 1:5-10; colleting a methanol layer and concentrating the extract; adding water and water-saturated n-butanol to the concentrate in a weight ratio of 1:5-10; and collecting and concentrating the water-saturated n-butanol.
