    • PURPOSE: A control method and a touch point identification method and system utilizing an electronic data link is provided to be used for vehicular master clutches, preferably wet friction clutches, utilized in partially or fully automated mechanical transmission systems. CONSTITUTION: A control method is characterized by: applying an input shaft braking element to prevent rotation of the input shaft, causing an engine to develop a first torque at an output member, applying the clutch until engine speed stabilizes at an engine idle speed, and sensing as a first value of a control parameter the value of the parameter when engine speed is stabilized at the idle speed; then applying the input shaft braking element to prevent rotation of the input shaft, causing the engine to develop a second torque different from the first torque at the output member, applying the clutch until engine speed stabilizes at the idle speed, and sensing as a second value of the control parameter the value of the control when engine speed is stabilized at the idle speed; and using the first value of the control parameter and the first value of torque as a first point and the second value of the control parameter and the second value of torque as a second point, defining a linear relationship between the control parameter values and clutch torque capacity.
