    • An oil-impregnated sintered bearing where, even when a rotating shaft is inclined in the bearing due to a high shear load, the rotating shaft and the bearing itself are not damaged, which provides the bearing with high durability. Further, with a method of producing the sintered bearing, displacement of the center axis of the oil-impregnated sintered bearing is excellently minimized by forming a bearing hole with high accuracy inside a sintered body. A bearing hole (3) with a circular cross-section supporting a rotating shaft (2) is formed in a bearing body (1) made from sintered metal. The bearing hole (3) has a shaft-supporting portion (3a), whose inner side functions as a friction face and which has a constant diameter, and diameter expanded portions (3b, 3c) whose each diameter increases toward an end of the bearing. The distance (d1) between a line (L1a) obtained by extending an inclined surface of one diameter expanded portion (3b) and a line (L1b) obtained by extending an inclined surface of the other diameter expanded portion (3c) opposite the one diameter expanded portion (3b) across the center of the bearing body (1) is substantially equal to the diameter (D) of the rotating shaft (2). In a production process of the sintered bearing, a bearing hole whose diameter including the shaft- supporting portion is constant is formed by pressing the inner periphery of a hollow-cylindrical sintered body (W) having been subjected to sintering, and then the inner periphery of the sintered body (W) is again pressed to form the diameter expanded portions such that they are continuous from the shaft-supporting portion.

Therefore, a sintered oil-impregnated bearing according to the invention is free from any metallurgical damage and can be manufactured in an existing manufacturing facility without significantly modifying the manufacturing equipment.
