    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse shift mechanism of transmission which can suppress the enlargement of a housing, relating to the reverse shift mechanism of a transmission having such a configuration as to shift an idling gear for a reverse driving gear and a reverse driven gear.SOLUTION: An idling shaft Ad (idling gear GRd) is shifted from a neutral position to a reverse position in the radial direction for the reverse driving gear GRi and the reverse driven gear GRo, in accordance with a shifting operation from the neutral position to the reverse position of a shift lever. Thereby, the idling gear GRd is engaged with the reverse driving gear GRi and the reverse driven gear GRo to establish a reverse operation. The position in the radial direction of the idling gear GRd is adjusted via a reverse fork secured to a fifth-reverse fork shaft and an idling shaft shifting mechanism. That is, the idling shaft shifting mechanism has such a function as to convert the movement in the axial direction of the fork shaft (reverse fork) into the movement in the radial direction of the idling shaft Ad (idling gear GRd).
