    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly and certainly correspond when an abnormal condition occurs in a secondary air introducing system.
      SOLUTION: An air pump for inducing secondary air to an upstream side exhaust passage of exhaust emission controlling catalyst of an engine, a solenoid valve driving motor 12a, and an electromagnetic coil 13a are energized or disenergized by MOSFETs 21, 22. The MOSFETs 21, 22 are turned on/off by input signal processing circuits 21d, 22d receiving an order from an ECU17, through gate driving circuits 21a and 22a. A temperature detecting circuit 28, and output monitor circuits 29, 30 detect an abnormal condition related to operation control of the air pump and the solenoid valve. When the abnormal condition is detected, the MOSFETs 21, 22 are forcibly turned off to intercept the current to the motor 12a and the electromagnetic coil 13a. A diagnosis circuit 32 outputs a diagnosis signal indicating a load controlling state by input signal processing circuits 21d, 22d, the temperature detecting circuit 28, and output monitor circuits 29, 30 to the ECU 17.

    • PURPOSE:To avoid enlarging the size of a canister and prevent suction of excessive evaporated fuel into the intake pipe of an engine. CONSTITUTION:Evaporated fuel in a fuel tank 6 reaches a storage tank 3 positioned below activated carbon 2 through a vapor line 7, and about the half is then liquefied and fed into a pressurized chamber 41 through an introducing passage 30. At starting an engine, the evaporated fuel is sucked into an engine intake pipe 12 through purge lines 15, 16. Negative pressure of the intake pipe is introduced to a back pressure chamber 54, and a piston 51 locates at the right retreated end. When the negative pressure in the intake pipe is reduced by accelerating the engine, the piston 51 is advanced to the left by spring force, and the volume of the pressurized chamber 41 is reduced, a check valve 14 is pushed to open, and the liquefied fuel is returned to the fuel tank 6. Consequently, about the half of evaporated fuel is returned to the tank as liquefied fuel, hence a large sized canister is unnecessary to be provided, diffusion of fuel is prevented, and with suction of excessive fuel into the intake pipe are prevented.
