    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse modulation circuit comprising an existing circuit which implements a compact circuit comprising a reduced number of elements by dispensing with a dedicated circuit provided for the addition of the function of a phase modulation circuit.SOLUTION: The pulse modulation circuit includes: a switch 1 for pulse-modulating a high frequency input signal to a local oscillation wave according to a control input signal for on/off switching; a harmonic mixer 2 for frequency-mixing the local oscillation wave signal with an intermediate wave signal to output a high frequency modulation signal; a pulse signal generator 3 for generating a pulse signal modulating with positive and negative voltage amplitudes and inputting the generated pulse signal as the intermediate wave signal into the harmonic mixer 2; and a logic transformation circuit 9 for inputting a pulse signal modulating with an amplitude obtained by multiplying an absolute voltage of the pulse signal generated by the pulse signal generator 3 by a predetermined coefficient, as the control input signal into the switch 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polar modulator in which an alias caused by a modulation sampling frequency is suppressed, without increase in a circuit scale due to a voltage controlled oscillator and limitation of a frequency band in the polar modulator performing a digital phase control by using a direct digital synthesizer.SOLUTION: A polar modulator includes: a modulation wave generating unit 10 that generates a carrier frequency, a phase, and an amplitude component of a modulation wave; a DDS 20 with a built-in band variable digital BPF suppressing an alias generated depending on a sampling frequency of the modulation wave generating unit, that modulates a phase of a carrier signal; a digital low pass filter (LPF) 50 suppressing the alias and a digital/analog converter (DAC) 60 that generate the amplitude component; and a multiplier 40 that synthesizes a phase component and the amplitude component through LPFs 30 and 70 each removing the alias caused by the sampling frequency of a DAC of each signal. The polar modulator which has high flexibility and is in a small size is thereby provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of reducing output power by suppressing reduction in power addition efficiency. SOLUTION: A base band signal generator 1 provides a modulation output to be transmitted. A fixed amplitude phase modulator 2 generates a fixed amplitude high frequency signal whose amplitude is fixed based on the modulation output. An amplitude signal generation means 7A generates an amplitude signal for reducing a modulation degree in pulse width modulation in an area whose modulation error is not more than a modulation error upper limit value. A pulse width modulator 8 generates a logical pulse signal having an ON period rate proportional to the amplitude of the amplitude signal and outputs the logical pulse signal to a switching means 5. The switching means 5 generates a burst signal by making the fixed amplitude high frequency signal intermittent by the logical pulse signal, amplifies the generated burst signal and outputs the amplified signal to a band-pass filter 6.
