    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make characteristics of a predistorter closer to an ideal level.
      SOLUTION: An amplifier has: a predistorter 100' that distorts digital signals to be amplified in advance; a digital/analog converter 108 that converts previously distorted digital signals to analog signals; an amplification unit 103 that amplifies the analog signals; and a predistortion controller 110' that controls the predistorter according to the signal fed back from the amplification unit. The predistortion controller specifies power of two side lobes, left and right, of the frequency spectrum of signals fed back from the amplification unit, and specifies a cost function according to the power of the two side lobes to control the predistorter according to the cost function.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplification device which includes a function of preventing deviation of the amplitude and phase of an output signal having amplified envelope variation from expected values, and a transmission device and a communication device both using the power amplification device.
      SOLUTION: A power amplification device comprises: a variable phase shifter circuit 10 which shifts the phase of an input signal; first and second adder circuits 11a, 11b which generate first and second constant envelope signals; first and second amplifier circuits 12a, 12b; first and second amplitude detection circuits 13a, 13b which detect amplitudes; a first amplitude control circuit 20 which varies the amplitudes of first and second constant envelope vector generation signals; an output adder circuit 14 which performs vector addition of first and second amplified signals to generate the output signal; a phase shift control circuit 30 which controls the phase shift amount of the variable phase shifter circuit; a gain control circuit 40 which controls the gains of the first and second adder circuits; and a second amplitude control circuit 50 which varies the amplitudes of the first and the second constant envelope vector generation signals.

      SOLUTION: A distortion compensation processing means 1 applies distortion compensation to the transmission signal. An amplification means 2 amplifies the transmission signal to which distortion compensation processing is applied by the distortion compensation means 1. A frequency component calculation means 3 calculates the power of frequency components of the transmission signal amplified by the amplification means 2. A peak suppression means 4 suppresses the peak value of the transmission signal input to the distortion compensation processing means 1 in accordance with the power of the frequency components calculated by the frequency component calculation means 3.
