摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the various accurate editing work with respect to a magnetic tape to be performed by allowing the smooth and accurate shift to be carried out to the recording or reproducing mode from the standby mode. SOLUTION: The device is constituted so as to provide a timer circuit 103 for outputting a signal when the stopping state of the tape 112 is continued for a prescribed time, a capstan motor 105, a frequency generator 106 for outputting a pulse corresponding to the rotation of the above motor, a conunter circuit 107 for counting the pulses and outputting the counted value, and a control means 102 for moving the magnetic tape to the specified direction by making the above motor rotate till the counted value of the pulses is changed in a specified amount for every input of the signal on the standby mode and for repeatedly controlling the operation to stop the tape transfer by stopping the rotation of the motor when the above counted value is changed in the specified amount.

When data are supplied from the external equipment of a host computer 30 or the like in a standby state, the pinch-roller 26 is made to be in 'off' to be separated from the capstan 27. Next, the pinch-roller 26 becomes to be in press-contact again to start the recording of data. At the time of recording, the off of the poinch-roller 26 is periodically performed so as to become the extent of one time every time a normal reposition is performed 50 times. Repositioning at the time of reproduction is performed always by making the pinch-roller 26 to be in 'on' state.

That is, the bracket, etc., having nothing to do with an essential function of the magnetic recording and reproducing device can be eliminated, and the number of parts can be reduced and the cost can also be reduced. Then, assembling cost required for subassemblies is cut down, and also the cost is reduced.
