    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a towel processing machine which achieves a more effective sterilization process by more organically combining a sterilization process, a towel foreign matter removing process and a double-folding process and which has a simple configuration.SOLUTION: The towel processing machine 1 includes a conveyance conveyor 2 for conveying a towel P which is widened and placed on the conveyor, a foreign matter removing part 3, a sterilization liquid imparting part 4, and a double-folding part 5. The conveyance conveyor 2 has a towel detection sensor 22 for detecting the towel P. The foreign matter removing part 3 has a foreign matter capturing roller 31 for removing a foreign matter following the movement of the towel P when the roller contacts with the towel P. The sterilization liquid imparting part has a sterilization liquid imparting roller 42 for imparting a sterilization liquid to the towel P following the movement of the towel P when the roller contacts with the towel P. The sterilization liquid imparting part 4 is supplied with the sterilization liquid from a sterilization liquid tank when the towel detection sensor 22 detects the towel P. The double-folding part 5 has a towel contact member 51 which starts moving with a predetermined time difference from the detection of the towel P by the towel detection sensor 22 and contacts with the towel P so as to traverse the vicinity of the center of the towel P.

The conducting rollers at the output end, which rotate in the output direction, have a disturbing effect on such a close output. The front conducting roller in the direction of motion rotates in a direction having a lifting effect on the underlying web, which is negative, whereas the rear conducting roller rotates in a direction pressing down the web being fed out, which is advantageous for the output. Both conveyors of the pendulum conveyor are made vertically movable with regard to each other, the front conducting roller being situated higher and the rear conducting roller lower during the pendulum swing. The reversing mainly takes place in the end position of the pendulum swing. The reversing may take place momentarily or gradually during the entire pendulum motion.
