    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life optical connector which is not damaged even when used for a connection of an optical fiber for high-power transmission.
      SOLUTION: The optical connector for high power has ferrule holding optical fibers and a flange brought into contact with the ferrules, and is characterized in that ferrules of at least a reception-side connector are made of transparent glass and the flange is made of a material which is transparent to infrared light. It is preferred that a sensor for detecting infrared light is disposed behind the flange. The flange preferably has a structure in which particulates are added and infrared light transmitted through the flange by the particulates is scattered.

A second fiber stub 18 is connected to a second optical fiber 12 by the PC connection. The second fiber stub, facing the first fiber stub 16 across a gap G therebetween converges the light transmitted from the first fiber stub 16 using a second GI fiber 34 incorporated therein, and transmits the same to the second optical fiber 12. When the first fiber stub 16 or the second fiber stub 18 is damaged, the first stub or the second stub is pulled out of a first sleeve 17 or a second sleeve 20 for replacement.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter which prevents leakage of light from a key groove of an adaptor and is inexpensive and can be easily attached to the adaptor without changing external dimensions of the adaptor, and to provide the adaptor provided with the shutter.
      SOLUTION: The optical connector 20 includes: a housing 20a provided with a fitting part 29 into which a ferrule 51 of an optical connector plug 50 is inserted; and the shutter for shielding the light, wherein the fitting part is formed in a substantially quadrangular cross-section shape, the key groove 22 into which a key 54a of the optical connector plug 50 is inserted is disposed on one side of a side wall constituting the fitting part, and a notch 25 is disposed on the inner surface of a side wall of the other side opposite to the side wall in which the key groove 22 is disposed. The shutter 10 includes: a main body part 11 which covers the outer circumference of the housing and has a substantially quadrangular cross-section shape; and a shielding part 1 which shields light and is elastically deformed. The shielding part 1 is arranged on the notch 25 side and a key groove is formed on the main body part 11 of the side opposite to the shielding part 1, for discriminating notch 16 for discriminating erroneous insertion of the optical connector plug 50.
