    • PURPOSE:To improve the recognition and identifiableness of a signal by storing successively the received signal of a scanning sonar which searches an object with an umbrella-shaped ultrasonic beam pulse to form a stereoscopical image in a memory and displaying a desired section. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter and receiver 2 transmits the umbrella-shaped ultrasonic beam pulse on a basis of the transmission trigger from a transmission trigger generating circuit 3 and receives a reflected wave coming from an object. Reflected waves coming from an eutire circumference in the direction of a tilt angle (t) set by a tilt angle setting circuit 4 are led to sequence circuit 5. A search direction to be extracted is determined in the circuit 5 on a basis of the counted value of a direction counter 6. The extracted signal is converted to digital signal by an A-D converting circuit 10 and is written in a memory 11 with a orthogonal coordinate system.
