    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a seal assembly around a shaft.
      SOLUTION: This method for forming the seal assembly around the shaft includes; (a) a step for energizing a first seal member to a second seal member so that a load is applied between a first seal surface and a second seal surface; (b) a step for measuring the load applied between the first seal surface and the second seal surface at the energizing step; and (c) a step for fixing a first supporting member on the shaft when a predetermined load value is achieved between the first seal surface and the second seal surface so that a relative position between the first seal member and the second seal member is fixed in such a way that the predetermined load value is substantially maintained between the first seal surface and the second seal surface. An associated seal assembly shape is also provided.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion-resistance of sealing surface and the strength of basic material by obtaining the basic material from spheroidal graphite cast iron and providing the chilled structure through remelting and cooling for the sealed surface. CONSTITUTION:The chemical constituents of the basic material consists of C: 3-4% by weight, Si: 2-3%, Mn: 0.4-1%, Cr: 0.05-1.5%, one or two kinds among Cu and Ni: 0.5-4%, Mo: 0.1-1.5%, one or two kinds among the rare earth elements such as Mg, Ca, Ce, etc. as spheroidal graphite processing element: 0.01-0.2%, and the impurities and Fe as rest. A floating seal 4 made of such chemical constituents is casted, and the seal surface 6 is melted again and cooled to form chilled structure 61.
