SOLUTION: This method for forming the seal assembly around the shaft includes; (a) a step for energizing a first seal member to a second seal member so that a load is applied between a first seal surface and a second seal surface; (b) a step for measuring the load applied between the first seal surface and the second seal surface at the energizing step; and (c) a step for fixing a first supporting member on the shaft when a predetermined load value is achieved between the first seal surface and the second seal surface so that a relative position between the first seal member and the second seal member is fixed in such a way that the predetermined load value is substantially maintained between the first seal surface and the second seal surface. An associated seal assembly shape is also provided.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for assembling a joint part of an endless crawler chain for a crawler type machine so as to prevent axial play at the joint part. SOLUTION: The joint part is provided with a pair of links and a cylindrical pin. Each link is provided with an outward offset outer end collar having a boss extending therefrom and a hole piercing therein. Each boss has an outer side face, and the pin is provided with both end parts. Each end part is pushed into each hole of the outer end collar and mounted to be nonrotatable. This method includes a step of forming an annular groove around each end part, a step of disposing a caulking tool to the other side face of the boss, making the pin coincide with an axis, and a step of applying sufficient force to the caulking tool in order to form at least one mechanically formed small knot projecting into each groove from the outer side face. The small knot has cross- sectional shape substantially coinciding with the groove.
