    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag discharge system having high degree of freedom of layouts, high reliability and enabling to stably discharge the slag at low cost. SOLUTION: This slag discharge system is equipped with a slag-slurry tank 23 for recovering slag S from a slag reservoir 21 into water to slurry it; slag-slurry piping 25 connecting the slag-slurry tank 23 and a slag storage tank 13; and a pump 27 provided to the slag-slurry pipings 25, sucking slag-slurry in the slag-slurry tank 23 and delivering it to the slag storage tank 13. The slag discharge system is so constituted that the slag S discharged from a gasification furnace 1, generating combustible gas, is quenched in cooling water to become vitrified slag S; the slag S discharged out of the system together with cooling water from the gasification furnace 1 is recovered in the slag reservoir 21; and the slag S is conveyed from the slag reservoir 21 to the slag storage tank 13.
