    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold used for press-molding optical devices which is capable of molding optical devices having an excellent profile irregularity even if the press molding operation is continued.
      SOLUTION: The mold for molding optical devices 1 comprises a mold base material 2 made of a sintered super-hard alloy or silicon carbide, a surface layer 3 which is formed on the surface of the mold base material 2 and brought into contact with a glass material in press-molding and an intermediate layer 4 formed between the mold base material 2 and the surface layer 3. The surface layer 3 is formed of at least one element selected from platinum, palladium, iridium, osmium, ruthenium and rhenium, an alloy or a compound containing the element(s). The intermediate layer 4 is provided with a base material surface layer 5 comprising at least one material selected from tungsten, carbon, tungsten carbide and silicon carbide formed into a crystalline state comprising crystal particles having particle sizes smaller than those of the materials constituting the mold base material 2. The base material surface layer 5 is brought into contact with the surface of the base material 2.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding die using crystallized glass containing >=75 wt.% SiO2 and >=10 wt.% Li2 O, and suitable for moldability (fluidity) as a base material, and in which the adhesion between the glass composing a molding face and a protection film on the surface of the die is made satisfactory, and which has stable durability and quality. SOLUTION: An intermediate film containing protection film constituting elements based on Si3 N4 or SiC is formed on the space between a replica die consisting of crystallized glass containing, by weight, >=75% SiO2 and >=10% Li2 O and a metallic protection film under prescribed temperature conditions and concentration conditions. After that, a protection film consisting of at least one kind of element selected from Pt, Ir, W, Re, Ta, Rh, Ru and Os is formed thereon by sputtering. Thus, the adhesion between the glass molding die and the protection film is improved, and the durability and stability of the die are improved.
