    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed displaying device and a speed displaying method which make it easy to visually recognize a speed difference region which indicates the size of the difference between the current vehicle speed and the target vehicl speed during auto-cruise travelling.SOLUTION: In case auto-cruise is set, a CPU 15 acquires a current speed data, and causes a speedometer 30 displayed on a display panel 11 to display a pointer-pointed position 43 (S2). The CPU acquires the target vehicl speed which is input with a speed setting key 19b, and stores the taget speed into a built-in RAM, and causes the speedometer 30 displayed on the display panel 11 to display a target vehicl speed position 41 (S3). The CPU 15 calculates a display position and a size of a zone area 45 based on a difference between a current vehicle speed and the target vehicl speed, determines hue and density of the zone area, and causes the speedometer 30 displayed on the display panel 11 to display the zone area 45 on the periphery of the speedometer (S4). In display of the zone area 45, the contrast of the monochromatic display becomes high, as the vehicle speed gets closer to the target vehicl speed position 41.
