    • PURPOSE: To make the stretch and shrinkage of material in longitudinal direction possible, by a method wherein the holding apparatus composed of holding pulleys of before and after 2 stages and of 2 classes of No.1 and No.2 circulation belts winding around the holding pulleys, is radially arranged at two positions at least in the lateral direction of material, and the material is caused to progress in spreading out manner like an unfolded fan.
      CONSTITUTION: The lengthwise induced thermoplastic material 12 is held with pressure to the circular arc on the material induced side of before stage holding pulley 1 at first with its first belt 3 and caused to shift along about one fourth circular arc of it and then is changed to be held with pressure to the circular arc on the reverse side of after stage holding pulley 2 with the second belt 4 in the holding apparatus composed of 2 pieces of pulleys 1 and 2 provided respectively at before and after 2 stages and of 2 classes of circulation belts 3 and 4 winding around them at 2 positions at least in its traverse direction. Thereafter, the material 12 is changed to be held with pressure to the circular arc on the opposite side of after stage holding pulley 2 with the second belt 4 and laterally stretched at before and after two stages along the widening line toward the end. The stretch and strinkage of material 12 in longitudinal direction are made possible in those processes.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film stretcher for facilitating thinning of a film without causing stretching unevenness or neck-in.
      SOLUTION: In the film stretcher, film stretching is performed by expanding a film material 2 at a holding means 3 side by conveying in one direction while holding the end part in the width direction with the holding means 3. The holding means 3 includes a stretching roll R1 having an annular groove 11 formed on the outer periphery, and an endless wire 12 which is fitted to and inserted into the annular groove 11 in a circular arc shape over the appropriate rotating angle range of the annular groove 11 in a state of sandwiching the end part in the width direction of the film material 2. The stretching roll R1 is obliquely disposed in the direction widening to the end toward the downstream side in the conveying direction of the film material 2, and the film material 2 is extended in the width direction by conveying in the one direction to perform the film stretching while holding under pressure by the stretching roll R1 and the endless wire 12.
