CONSTITUTION:When a workpiece is transferred to a carrier 2 through a chute 1, a motor 26 is rotated by a phototube 27 so that a link belt 24 transfers the carrier 2 in the direction of arrow. The workpiece is moved laterally at the position of a transfer unit 5 by an endless belt 56 to have one end edge worked by a cutting die 3. Then, the carrier 2 is moved further in the direction of arrow and transferred at the position of a unit 6 in the opposite direction to said one by a belt 66 to have the other end edge worked. Finally the workpiece is discharged through the link belt 24.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a steel strip trimming margin from being defectively trimmed by storing the trimming margin detected by the width detector at the steel strip infeed side of a side trimmer and by starting and stopping the side trimmer or a cutting device according to the trimming margin. CONSTITUTION:If the steel strip trimming margin detected by a width detector 5 has an enough broad width S1 to be trimmed by a side trimmer 2, the trimming margin is trimmed by the side trimmer 2 according to the command of a controller 6. In order to attract the lug scrap metal through magnetic attraction, the mandrel shaft 8 is provided with a built-in magnet 12 serving as a solenoid attraction device. This attraction device is energized with current via a feeder unit 13 whereby the lug metal piece being pressed to the shaft is attracted by magnetic attraction and, under this condition left intact, rolled round in the shaft, then further pressed to a pressure roll 6.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent incorrect cutting by furnishing an image sensor, having light source, in contact with the splash guide of a band steel processing line. CONSTITUTION:Splash produced on the outgoing side of a side trimmer 2 is guided by a splash guide 16. A light source 18 is installed on one of the sides of this splash guide 16 while an image sensor 20 on the other side. The image sensor 20 is in communication with a signal processor 22 which makes waveform shaping for the output therefrom. This processor 22 is connected with an alarm 24. Interruption of splash production will yield an output waveform near saturation, as the beam is not blocked at all, to cause actuation of the alarm 24 to emit alarm.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the operation rate by forming notches at a prescribed interval in the longitudinal direction of a scrap and performing trimming only for the part having the wider width than the predetermined width of a steel band. CONSTITUTION:A width of a steel band is continuously measured by a slab- width measuring apparatus 1, and this measured value and a reference width are compared with each other in a calculator 2, and if the measured value > reference value, trimming instruction is transmitted to a trimmer controller 4. A trimmer 5 is moved transversely in the direction of the steel band 6 by an apparatus 4, and trim is performed only for the part having the larger width than the reference value. Notches 10 are formed on the part to be trimmed, and said part is formed into broken small pieces on trimming, and generation of trouble in a disposing apparatus can be prevented.
