    • PURPOSE:To permit easy insertion of the other involute serration internal gear having a normal tooth thickness by making the part of flat dies for rolling which rolls the open side end of a blank material thickener than the normal tooth thickness part. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical blank material 7 is grasped by the teeth 5, 6 of flat dies 3, 4 and the dies 3, 4 are moved relatively reverse (in arrow direction) in parallel with each other, whereby an involute serration shaft is cold rolled. The part 9 (the part between tooth lengths a-b-c) of the teeth 5, 6 for rolling the open side end 8 of the shaft 7 to be worked is made thicker in tooth thickness than such a normal thooth thickness part (between tooth lengths c-d) where the tooth profile of the shaft 7 has the normal tooth thickness. If the shaft is rolled with such flat dies, the tooth thickness of the tooth profile in the end part 8 rolled by the part 9, that is, between A-B-C is thinner than the part 11 between C-D where the tooth thickness is normal, and said part is continuous with the part 11. It is therefore possible to insert easily the other involute serration internal gear having the normal thickness to the end part of the shaft 7.

    • PURPOSE:To roll crown teeth easily using ordinary flat dies by mounting a pair of flat dies to a rolling device changing the form of mounting. CONSTITUTION:Teeth arranging faces 3e, 3f of a pair of flat dies 3a, 3b are made parallel to each other, and at the same time, their axial centers O1, O2 are made parallel to each other. Further, teeth traces of teeth 3a', 3b' are made to slant to the tooth trace of a tooth 4a of a work 4 to be rolled by a small angle beta, that is axial centers O1, O2 of flat dies 3a, 3b are made to slant by an angle beta to the direction Z of movement of flat dies, and mounted to a rolling device. Flat dies 3a, 3b are moved, as before, in the direction Z perpendicular to the axial center O of revolution of the work 4 to reciprocal dead centers of opposite side as shown by the alternate long and short dash line, and crown teeth 4a are formed on the peripheral face of the work 4.
