    • PURPOSE:To replace a roll even in the running state of a rolling line and to automate the roll replacing operation, by keeping a strip mill in a roll displaceable state while holding a sheet therein, and drawing out the roll while keeping roll chocks, located at the reverse side of drawing, in a state of being released and raised, and incorporatihng a replacing roll in the same method. CONSTITUTION:A lower roll chock 14 is floated by raising a rising frame 4 of lower roll with the aid of a cylinder 27 of housing 2, and raising a rail 7 for lower roll to the level of a rail 30 and the roll is kept in a released state with the aid of a holding rod 18 at the same time. A rising frame 9 of upper roll fitted to the frame 4 is raised with the aid of a cylinder 10, and a rail 12 for upper roll is made to coincide with an upper guide rail 3, to keep the upper roll in a released state at the reverse side of drawing. In this state, a pair of rolls are drawn out to the housing 2 at the drawing side with the aid of a drawing dolly 35, and the upper and lower rolls 14, 15 are drawn out of the mill by the reverse method while keeping them in a parallelly released state. The replacing rolls are mounted by the reverse procedure. Thus, the roll is replaced during the running of the rolling line, and the replacing operation is efficiently performed by automating it.

    • PURPOSE:To rearrange rolls of a required stand without stopping the running of a continuous rolling mill by shifting work rolls in the axial direction when a gap between the upper and lower work rolls of each stand of the mill is widened. CONSTITUTION:Each pair of pinch rolls 40 is kept in a released state during normal running; the gaps of upper and lower backup rolls and work rolls 21, 22 and 11, 12 are widened and each pair of pinch rolls 40 is actuated to pinch a material 10 when the rolls of (Sn)th stand are rearranged. Next, the rolls 11, 12 are taken out in the axial direction, and then a material supporting mechanism 50 is actuated to bring rolls 52 into contact with the material 10. In case of using a construction which raises the roll 11 only, the material 10 is kept out of contact with the roll 12 by raising the rolls 40 while keeping the pinched material 10 as it is. In this manner, the roll rearrangement of other stands is performed in sequence after completing the roll rearrangement of the (Sn)th stand.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide especially an improved modular rolling mill about the rolling mill for manufacturing long size goods such as mainly a bar and a plate.
      SOLUTION: The modular rolling mill has a plurality of individual rolling units which are arranged along the mill pass line. Each rolling unit has at least two sets of work rolls 14, 16 defining the pass of an oval and the pass of a round and carried on roll a shaft 18 that are staggered 90° with respect to each other. The rolling units contain intermediate drive trains for connecting the roll shafts to parallel input shafts 20 to each other and projected to the first side of the pass line from each rolling unit. A single drive line shaft 30 is parallel to the pass line and present on the first side of the pass line. An output shaft 42 is mechanically connected to the line shaft 30 with a bevel gear set 44. The output shaft 42 is projected in the laterally from the line shaft 30 toward the pass line and connected by separable couplings 46 to the input shaft 20 of the rolling unit.

    • PURPOSE:To rearrange rolls in on-line by providing holding rods penetrating through the inside of a lower roll chock and provided with wheels for the lower roll chock at their lower ends, and arranging supporting rollers rolling on and beneath the upper and lower surfaces of a strip. CONSTITUTION:A pair of lower guide rods 32 and a guide plate 36 for guiding a roll chocks, are fixed between a housing of extraction side and a housing of opposite side.
