    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel bar and wire rod for a machine structure, which have superior magnetic properties, high strength, hot forgeability and machinability; hot-forged parts; and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The steel bar and wire rod for a high-strength machine structure comprise, by mass%, 0.05% or less C, 0.1-2.0% Si, 0.1-0.6% Mn, 0.01% or less P, 0.005-0.03% S, 0.3-2.0% Cu, 0.3-2.0% Ni, 0.001-0.005% N, 0.006% or less O, one or more elements among 0.005-0.1% Al, 0.002-0.05% Ti and 0.005-0.1% Nb, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities. The high-strength hot-forged parts have the above chemical composition and have a tensile strength of 500 MPa or higher. The manufacturing method comprises the steps of: heating the above steel bar or wire rod to 900°C or higher; then hot-forged it; reheating it at 400°C to 700°C; and retaining it for 10 minutes or longer in the state.
