    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine which is hardly influenced by the deterioration of an exhaust purifying catalyst easily even at a time of cold start of the internal combustion engine, and keeping exhaust emission control performance high. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with the exhaust purifying catalyst 20 arranged in an engine exhaust passage, and exhaust gas flows in the exhaust purifying catalyst from an upstream side end part and flows out of the same from a downstream side end part. Moreover, the exhaust emission control device is provided with a grinding means 30 grinding the upstream side end part of the exhaust purifying catalyst by moving on the upstream side end part of the exhaust purifying catalyst dyeing operation of the internal combustion engine.     • PURPOSE:To prevent the worsening of a start acceleration performance from idling and prevent the generation of the chattering sound of an exhaust changeover valve at the time of deceleration by providing a valve opening command means to output a command that opens the exhaust changeover valve even in the case where a supercharging action condition by means of a main turbo charger alone is established, when a deceleration state is detected. CONSTITUTION:A deceleration detecting means 71 and a valve opening command means 72 are formed in an engine control computer, and constitution is made by a program to be housed in the computer. A valve opening command for an exhaust changeover valve 17 is outputted by means of the valve opening command means 72 only in a case in which a deceleration state is detected by means of the deceleration detecting means 71. As a result, the exhaust changeover valve 17 is opened at the time of idling, and the decrease of the rotation of a main turbo charger at the time of idling is prevented. Accordingly, even in the case where acceleration is conducted from the idling state, the rotation of the main turbo charger can be increased in a short time.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent unreliable operations of both intake and exhaust selector valves by switching the operation to the supercharged operation by only a main turbo-charger when the pressure in an accumulating tank becomes lower than a preset value even if the supercharged operation conditions of both the main and auxiliary turbo-chargers are met. CONSTITUTION:In the low intake air quantity area, both an intake selector valve 18 and an exhaust selector valve 17 are closed, and the supercharged operation by only a main turbo-charger is performed. In the high intake air quantity area, actuators 11, 16 are driven by the pressure feed from an accumulating tank, both the intake selector valve 18 and exhaust selector valve 17 are closed, and the supercharged operation by both the main and auxiliary turbo-chargers is performed. The pressure in the accumulating tank is detected by a pressure detecting means 7. When the pressure in the accumulating tank becomes lower than a preset value, a switching judging means 72 commands to switch the operation to the supercharged operation by only the main turbo- charger even if the operating conditions of both the main and auxiliary turbo- chargers are met.
