      SOLUTION: There is provided the optical disc drive apparatus which includes first and second optical pickups for reproducing data recorded on an optical disc for recording data to the optical disc, a slide mechanism which carries the first and second optical pickups for making them slide in the radial direction of the optical disc, a first optical pickup control part which makes the first optical pickup perform search based on a seek command, a slide mechanism control part which controls the slide mechanism based on the seek command, and a second optical pickup control part which turns off a tracking servo of the second optical pickup when sliding by the slide mechanism.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten access time and to reduce power consumption by reducing a speed difference between the rotational speed when scanning the innermost periphery of a disk and that when scanning the outermost periphery than the speed difference when reproducing all areas at a specified linear velocity. SOLUTION: The reproduction is performed by switching a CLV servo to/ from a CAV servo according to a reproducing scan position in the radial direction of the disk 90. The table data for switching the linear velocity are stored in a memory 17, and the area is set by an address value, and spindle servo control operation in respective areas are set. Then, as for the change of a rotational speed in the radial direction of the disk, the speed difference between the rotational speed at the disk innermost periphery and the rotational speed at the disk outermost periphery is reduced than the speed difference in normal CLV reproduction.
