The first vertical alignment functional group 33 includes a cyclic compound and is aligned substantially perpendicularly to the substrate 191. The first pre-tilt functional group 35a is cross-linked to the second pre-tilt functional group and tilted with respect to the substrate 191.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition capable of inhibiting decrease of voltage maintenance ratio of a liquid crystal display device and hence improving after image, and to provide a liquid crystal display device comprising the composition. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition contains a first category containing a fluorine-containing liquid crystal compound represented by a general formula (I), wherein at least one of W1 and W2 contains F; and each of A and B contains a cyclic alkyl or alkoxy group or the like, and a second category which contains at least one specific neutral liquid crystal compound and in which, when a neutral liquid crystal compound having no alkenyl group in the terminal group is regarded as the first subcategory and a neutral liquid crystal compound having an alkenyl group in the terminal group is regarded as the second subcategory, the content of the second subcategory is 7 wt.% or less of the total content of the first and second categories. The liquid crystal display device contains the liquid crystal composition.
