    • PURPOSE:To stably maintain the proper final upset quantity and to improve the joining quality by adding the specified initial pressure to the joining surfaces to perform heating and specifying the pressurizing force during heating. CONSTITUTION:When bar materials to be joined are abutted on each other with insert material held between the joining surfaces, and heated and held above the melting point of the insert material to perform diffusion joining, the initial pressure of 300-500kgf/cm is added to the joining surfaces of the bar materials to perform heating. The pressurization of 150-380kgf/cm is started after 10-60 seconds since the measured temperature of the abutted part attains the holding temperature above the melting point of the insert material. The pressurization is stopped at a point of time when the upset quantity attains 15-20% of a nominal outside diameter of the bar materials. Consequently, upset by pressurization and residual pressure after pressurization is stabilized and the upset quantity as a target can be maintained stably. In addition, coil damage due to excessive swelling of a joined part is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To easily and surely join bar materials by inserting insert material between the joining surfaces thereof, loading initial load in the axial direction of the bar materials with respect to the joining surfaces to give strain to the insert material and pressing these materials under heating at the time of joining the bar materials. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing bars which are materials 4 to be joined are set on clamp mechanisms 3 and amorphous metallic material is inserted between the joining surfaces as the insert material 5 and the reinforcing bars are fixed by tightening a fixing bolt 8. A head 2 is moved by a hydraulic jack 6 so that the prescribed load is applied in the axial direction of the reinforcing bars and the initial load is loaded. The size of load is measured and controlled by a load cell 11. The vicinity of a joining part is heated to the prescribed temperature by intense reducing flame gas by using a ring burner 72 and the materials to be joined are pressed plural times. After heating is finished, the burner is kept away. When a high-frequency heating coil is used as a heating method, nonoxidizing gas is blown in a seal box to carry out heating. By this method, joining conditions are controlled and the bar materials are joined easily and surely.
