摘要： PURPOSE:To ensure that a color developer is rapidly decomposed under the actions of microorganisms by using a specified polyvalent metal salt as a main constituent of a color developer for use in a pressure sensitive recording material. CONSTITUTION:A polyvalent metal salt of a substd. salicylic acid of formula l is used as a main constituent of a color developer. In formula I, R1 is methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or secondary alkyl, R2 is H, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or secondary alkyl, R3 is H or methyl, and the total number of carbon atoms in R1 to R3 is 9 to 16. The secondary alkyl is represented by formula II, wherein each or R' and R'' is an alkyl. If the total number of carbon atoms in R1 to R3 is less than 9, the color developer obtained is poor in water resistance and moisture resistance. If the total number of carbon atoms is more than 16, decomposition of the color developer by microorganisms is slow. A material preferable for introducing the secondary alkyl into salicylic acid is, for example, a chlorinated paraffin or an alkylene. A typical secondary alkyl introduced by such a material is, for example, sec-butyl.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve recording sensitivity without reducing whiteness by incorporating compound represented by a specific formula in a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:At least one of compounds represented by a formula [I] is contained in a thermal recording layer of a thermal recording medium which utilizes coloring reaction of pale basic dye with colorant coloring in contact with the dye. In the formula [I], X is -O-, R1-R6 are hydrogen atom, 1-8C alkyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group. Substituent groups R1-R6 may be bonded to each other to form an aromatic ring. n is integer numbers of 1 to 10. Such thermal fusible substances include, for example, 1-phenoxy-2-naphthoxy(1)-ethane, 1-phenoxy-4-naphthoxy(2)-butane, etc. Since the substance is similar to the structure of basic dye or organic colorant, the solubility of the whole mixture is enhanced. Thus, its recording sensitivity can be improved without reducing whiteness.

摘要： PURPOSE:To ensure high sensitivity and high brightness and prevent the brightness from being lowered upon exposure to high-temperature conditions by using a specified phenyl-benzyl ether derivative as a heat-fusible substance, and selectively using 3-dibutylamino-6-methyl-7-phenylaminofluoran as a basic dye. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer comprising a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a color reaction agent capable of a color reaction upon contact with the dye is provided on a support. 3-Dibutylamino-6-methyl-7-phenylaminofluoran is incorporated as the basic dye, and a heat-fusible substance of formula I is jointly used. In the formula, X is hydrogen, a halogen, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxyl. The recording layer not only has excellent high-speed recording characteristics but is free from a lowering in brightness even when preserved under high-temperature conditions. This is presumably because the basic dye and the heat-fusible substance are highly compatible with each other and, nevertheless, the degree of depression of melting point due to a eutectic phenomenon is small.

At least, one kind of chemical is selected from among 4-hydroxy-4'- isopropyloxydiphenylsulfon, 4,4'-(1-3-dimethylbutylidene)bisphenol, 4,4'-(1- phenylethylidene)bisphenol, 4,4'-(p-phenylenediisopropylidene)bisphenol and 4,4'-(m- phenylenediisopropylidene)bisphenol as a coloring agent. In addition, a fusible substance expressed by a formula is added to the coloring agent. If this kind of compound is jointly used, a thermal recording element is obtained which not only has excellent high-speed recording properties but also shows no deterioration of the degree of whiteness in the recording layer, if the element is stored at high temperature.

The dye and the color reaction agent are dispersed either jointly or separately by an agitator or pulverizer using water as a dispersant to prepare a coating liquid, which is applied to a base to provide a recording layer. A thermal recording material thus obtained is adaptable for high-speed recording, and when the material is used, dicoloring tendency of recorded images is removed, and adhesion of scum to a recording needle is prevented from occuring.
