    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary cutter for a mud pressure shield machine capable of executing a tunneling work even for natural ground with many boulders clustered therein in no way inferior to tunneling a general gravel layer and realizing a low construction cost in combination with a reduction in a construction period as well as work saving.SOLUTION: A rotary cutter 2 of a mud pressure shield machine comprises: a hub section 12; a plurality of spoke sections 16 radially extended from the hub section; and an outer circumferential ring 18 connecting tip sections of the spoke sections. An intermediary ring 17 which connects middle sections of the spoke sections and regulating protrusions 19 on the intermediary ring are provided in order to regulate a size of a gravel to be brought in a cutter chamber through gaps between the spoke sections. Roller cutters 15 and face bits 14 on the spoke sections facing a face in addition to outer circumferential bits 31 on the outer circumferential ring are provided in order to break and crush the gravel clustering in the face.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud pressure shield method and a mud pressure shield machine capable of executing a tunneling work even for natural ground with many boulders clustered therein in no way inferior to tunneling a general gravel layer.SOLUTION: A mud pressure shield machine 1 has a cutter chamber 5 in a rear of a spoke type rotary cutter 2, which excavates a face Z of natural ground, separated from the same by a bulkhead 4. The mud pressure shield machine 1 has first to third injection means 20 to 22 which inject, toward the face and an inside of the cutter chamber, a chemical which is blended with an excavated soil containing a gravel fraction which is: excavated by a rotary cutter from the natural ground where a sand fraction with a grain diameter less than 2 mm does not exceed 20% and the gravel fraction with the grain diameter equal to or larger than 2 mm exceeds 80%; crushed by the rotary cutter; and brought in the cutter chamber. A mud making material and a cellular material are used in combination for making the chemical so that the same achieves integration between plastic fluidity and impermeability of the soil containing the gravel fraction brought in the cutter chamber as well as the integration between the gravel fraction and the soil.

The temperature sensor is arranged at an uptake edge section 8a of the screw conveyor adjacent to the cutter chamber.
