    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relax distance limiting and band limiting caused by wavelength dispersion and mode dispersion by introducing an OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) modulation and demodulation technology as a modulating means of optical transmission.
      SOLUTION: A transmitter 10 consists of an OFDM modulator 11 for making a data signal to be transmitted into an OFDM signal, a laser diode 12 for converting the OFDM signal from the OFDM modulator 11 into an optical signal and an optical amplifier 13 for amplifying the optical signal from the laser diode 12. A receiver 30 consists of a photodiode 31 for receiving the optical signal converted by the laser diode 12 of the transmitter 10 through an optical fiber 20 and converting the optical signal into an electric signal and an amplifier 32 for amplifying the electric signal converted by the photodiode 31 and an OFDM demodulator 33 for demodulating the electric signal from the amplifier 32 to an OFDM signal. The transmitter 10 is connected to the receiver 30 by the optical fiber 20.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low-cost optical transmitters and receivers by performing code-division multiple processing in an electric region for multiplexing a light signal.
      SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 1a superimposes the light signal corresponding to diffused data (a) obtained by diffusing electric data (a) by a PN series code (an electric signal) generated in a PN series generator 4a, on a light signal corresponding to diffused data (b) obtained by diffusing electric data (b) by a PN series code generated in a PN series generator 4b for outputting. The optical receiver 2a reproduces the data (a) by inversely diffusing the light signal containing the diffused data (a) by the PN series code generated by a PN series generator 4c. The optical receiver 2b reproduces the data (b) by inversely diffusing the light signal containing the diffused data (b) by the PN series code generated by a PN series generator 4d. As a result, the light signal is superimposed and is transmitted in optical fiber 3a, but the data (a) and (b) are recognized for reproduction by the optical receivers 2a and 2b, respectively.
