    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus having a simple structure and action, enabling miniaturization and speed-up, capable of automatically forming knots on various kinds of string-shaped bodies, and especially utilizable in a food-processing field of binding the string-shaped bodies such as dried gourd shavings. SOLUTION: The apparatus for making the knot on the string-shaped body uses a first arm 20 equipped with a clamp 24 for gripping one terminal 16 of the string-shaped body, a second arm 22 equipped with a clamp 26 for gripping the other terminal 18 of the string-shaped body, and guides 30-34 for supporting the string-shaped body 12. The guides hold the vicinities of both terminals of the string-shaped body, and the clamp 24 grips the one terminal 16 of the string-shaped body. The one terminal 16 of the string-shaped body is wound around the second arm 22 by relatively revolving the clamp 24 so that the second arm 22 may be the axis. The clamp 26 of the second arm 22 grips the other terminal 18 of the string-shaped body and passes through the ring formed by the one terminal 16 of the string-shaped body.
