    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the occurrence of pocket wave in a roll forming stage with certainty by selecting manufacturing conditions so that the tensile strength and compressive strength, in a longitudinal direction, of a metal take values in specific ranges, respectively. SOLUTION: A stock is used at the time of forming a metal strip into a wide-cross-section product by roll forming. The absolute value of the yield stress when the stock is compressed in a longitudinal direction is regulated so that it is >=92% of the value of the yield stress when the stock is stretched in a longitudinal direction. These yield stresses can be replaced by the proof stress at 0.2% contraction or the proof stress at 2% elongation. A formed product obtained by roll forming is a wide-cross-section product having a flat part with a length >=90 times the plate thickness in a width direction. The proof stress at contraction does not take a value lower than the proof stress at stretching by >30MPa. The material of the stock is plain steel or stainless steel. By this method, restrictions in product shape can be avoided, and the necessity of particular countermeasures to forming means and equipment can be obviated.

    • PURPOSE: To manufacture a welded tube of excellent quality free from surface flaws or defective welds by the die draw forming method. CONSTITUTION: In manufacturing a welded tube 1c by forming a metallic strip 1 to be cylindrical by a forming die 20 having a through hole to achieve the contraction from the inlet side toward the outlet side, and welding an edge part on each side, the water-soluble lubricant 16 of 15-30vol.% in concentration is applied to the overall surface of a metal strip 1 which is on the outer side of the welded tube 1c by a lubricant applying equipment 10 arranged on the inlet side of the forming die 20, and the water-soluble solution adhered to the cylindrical metal strip 1 immediately after leaving the forming die 20 is removed by a wiping equipment 30. The surface of the cylindrical metallic strip 1 is heated and dried by a heating machine 35 after the water-soluble lubricant is wiped. Because the water-soluble lubricant 16 is not brought into the welded zone, the weld zone free from defects such as blowholes attributable to the gasification of water contents.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent butted parts from forming a chevron-shaped state and unstable welding from occurring by bending both edge parts of metallic plate with one or more sets of forming rolls directly before the metallic plate is formed into a tubular form so as that the surface making the inside of a tube becomes the inside of the metallic plate. CONSTITUTION:In the metallic plate 1 through stages of plastic bending and unbending, both its edge parts are bent by one or more sets of forming rolls 8 through a bending roll 2 of small diameter in the width direction so that the surface making the inside of the tube becomes the inside of the metallic plate. The position of the edge is controlled by the seam guide rolls 9, the butted parts of the metallic plate 1 formed in the tubular form after it passes squeeze rolls 10 are welded and joined by a welding torch 11 to each other and then transferred and ejected by an urethane rubber lining pinch roll 12.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain clad material with high joining strength by heating an Al coated steel strip to the specific temperature range and superposing a Ti strip with specific thickness thereon and welding these with pressure by rolling at the specific reduction of area range to eliminate Ti combination of Fe and C of base metal. CONSTITUTION:The Al coated steel strip which has been plated with pure Al or has been clad with a pure Al strip on its surface or has been immersed in molten Al is heated to 300-500 deg.C in the air or a nonoxidizing atmosphere. Afterward, the Ti strip or Ti alloy strip with the thickness 0.1-5mm is immediately superposed thereon and rolled at the reduction of area range of 10-50% and welded with pressure. This welded strip with pressure is finished by cold or warm rolling so that the rolling rate 20-50% in total is attained. A Ti combination fragile intermetallic compound by Fe and C of the base metal is prevented from forming by interposing Al and the Ti clad material with the high joining strength is obtained.
