    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the surface crack on a thin cast slab and the surface flaw caused by projecting transfer of recessed part arranged on roll peripheral surface in a twin roll type continuous casting, to simplify the forming process for the recessed parts and to extend the service life of the recessed parts. SOLUTION: In the method for continuously casting into the thin cast slab C by continuously supplying molten metal into a molten metal pool part 3 formed at the upper part of a gap between one pair of the cooling rolls 1, 1 rotating mutually in the reverse direction, on the peripheral surfaces of the cooling rolls l, 1, the recessed parts having 400-2000 μm diameter and 10-200 μm depth are formed at 30-70% area ratio.     • PURPOSE:To collect scum on molten metal remaining the composition under floating condition as it is by arranging a through hole on roof part in a cover- like member having holding member and making space in inner part of the cover-like member. CONSTITUTION:The cover-like member 1 in a sampler S1 is formed so as to constitute the space part 3 with an annular foot part 4 and the roof part 5 ad the hole part 6 is penetrated in the roof part 5. The holding part 2 is arranged to the roof part 5 in the cover-like member 1 under condition of fixing or as freely attachable/detachable. The sampler S1 covers the scum 8 floating on surface layer of the molten metal 7 under inert gas atmosphere and the foot part 4 in the sampler S1 is dipped into the molten metal 7 and held. Gas in the space part 3 is exhausted from the hole part 6, and the scum 8 and the molten steel 7 in contact with side inner face in the space part 3 are cooled and stuck to the inner face of space part 3. Then, this is taken up from the molten metal 7 to collect the scum 8, and the scum 8 is rapidly cooled and solidified under condition of being covered with the molten steel 7. Therefore, as the scum is taken out at room temp., oxidization is not progressed.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the time from casting start to steady state and to improve the yield of a metal strip product by supplying shortage of molten metal in pouring basin part at the casting start by easy melting metal separately charged at the time of producing the metal strip directly from the molten metal by twin roll type continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:At the time of rotating two cooling rolls 1a, 1b mutually toward reverse direction and producing the metal strip by continuously drawing the metal strip from the molten metal poured in gap between the rolls, at first tip of a dummy bar 3 for drawing the continuously cast strip is inserted into the gap part 2 of both rolls 1a, 1b and the easy melting metal material 4 added elements, which lower melting point, such as C, Si, in the pouring basin part at upper part thereof. This metal material 4 is easily melted by holding heat of the molten metal as raw material successively poured and the pouring basin part is formed at short time and immediately the continuous casting operation can be started. By cut-removing unsound part containing a little of the easy melting metal contacting with the dummy bar 3, the metal strip can be produced under excellent yield of raw material.
