    • PURPOSE:To execute a stable casting by supporting a cast strip in a free loop section from a lower part in a twin roll continuous casting and keeping the supporting force during casting in a prescribed range according to the variation of a projecting quantity. CONSTITUTION:In the twin roll continuous casting, in which the cast strip 3 fed out downward from between the twin rolls constituting a continuous casting mold is horizontally carried with pinch rolls 5 after changing the progressing direction from a downward direction to a sideward direction in the free loop 4 section in the curved cast strip, the cast strip in the free loop 4 section is supported from the lower part with a guide frame 10. The guide frame 10 is moved in a perpendicular plane according to the projecting quantity of the free loop 4 and the supporting force with the guide frame 10 is constituted so as to always keep the force in a prescribed range during casting. By this method, the breakage of the cast strip in the free loop 4 section is prevented and the casting can stably be executed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent molten metal from leaking as a result of a phenomenon of unsymmetrical wear of a side weir and shortage of seal bearing pressure by providing a supporting device to prevent a pressing down deformation of the side weir in contact with the lower surface of the side weir of a continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:At the same time the side weir 2 is maintained by a side weir holding tool 6, its lower end part is kept by a supporting device, further. Therefore, pressed down displacement of the side weir 2 to the lower direction can be prevented by the frictional force produced by the rotation of a cooling drum 1. Further, the generation of a moment around a horizontal shaft parallel with both end faces of the cooling drum 1 can be restrained to the minimum and change of the seal bearing pressure can be eliminated nearly. Consequently, the minimum pressurizing force necessary for sealing the molten metal which is a prescribed seal bearing pressure can always be maintained without receiving the external effect of the frictional force in the side weir 2.
