    • PURPOSE:To improve the product dimensional accuracy by dividing a roll shaft into two pieces, putting them inserted into each other in a horizontal direction, installing a skew angle setting and drafting device for a horizontal roll and a roll gap setting and drafting devices for the roll shafts, respectively. CONSTITUTION:Roll shafts 2a, 2b devided into two pieces in the axial direction and are put to be inserted into each other in a horizontal direction and the roll shafts 2a, 2b are provided with spline shaft parts 6a, 6b and roll skew angle setting and drafting devices 3a, 3b, respectively. Then, roll gap setting and drafting devices are installed and brought into contact with the devided shafts 2a, 2b to roll a rolled stock 9. At that time, flange parts 9a are rolled with a roll skew angle alpha and a roll gap kept to a prescribed value by generation of a relative sliding between rolls 1a, 1b and the spline shafts 6a, 6b machined into a spherical shape. The mill rigidity is increased because of double hold rolling and the product dimensional accuracy is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the length of a rolling line and to reduce an equipment cost in the universal rolling of a track by moving an edge rolling mill having >=3 caliber orthogonally to a rolling progressing direction, aligning each caliber with the pass line of adjacent universal rolling mills and executing rolling. CONSTITUTION:The rolling layout of a rail is composed of a rough rolling mill BD having caliber in six kinds, an intermediate universal rolling mill U1, an edge rolling mill E having three kinds of caliber and equipped with a vertical roll and a finish rolling mill F. A rolling steel is then rolled in the rough shape of the rail by the BD rolling mill. The U1 rolling mill is then made an empty pass and it is rolled by the E rolling mill CAL6 caliber. Thereafter it is reciprocated between the U1 rolling mill and E rolling mill, rolled by the F rolling mill after its rolling of five passes and becomes a product. At this time, each caliber is aligned with the pass line of the adjacent universal rolling mills U1 in order to CAL6 CAL4E CAL2E with the rapid movement of the E rolling mill orthogonally with the rolling direction according to the progress of the rolling pass and the rolling steel is rolled.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of rattle in the direction of the rolling line, by holding the arm of the housing of the horizontal mill train combined with the vertical mill train, between transverse frames of respective upper and lower housings of the vertical mill train, and by locking the locking head of the arm on the locking step of the transverse frame. CONSTITUTION:The vertical rolling mills V1, V2 possessing vertical rolls 11, 12 for performing the edging of the slab S, and the horizontal rolling mill H possenssing the horizontal roll 2, are arranged in the order of V1, H, V2. The arm 11 of the housing 10 of the horizontal rolling mill H is inserted into the opening formed between upper and lower housings 3, 4 of the vertical rolling mill, and the locking head 11' of the arm 11 is locked on the locking steps 8', 9' of the transverse arms 8, 9; hereby, these parts are combined. Next, wedges 12, 13 are driven into the gap between the transverse frames 8, 9 and the housing 10, in order to rigidly tie the housing 10 with upper and lower housings 3, 4 into one body. By tying only the lower housing 4 to the sole plate 5, the setting work of the mill train is finished. According to this method, the sufficient rigidity can be held, and also, the distance between the vertical roll and the horizontal roll can be shortened.
