    • PURPOSE: To effectively reform filters with low heat energy partly obtained from a small amount of exhaust gas, by operating, upon reformation of the filters, heaters each disposed upstream of each filters arranged in parallel.
      CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas discharged form a diesel engine or the like is introduced from an inlet port 2 through a diversing valve 9 into one of catalyst devices arranged in parallel, and then discharged from an outlet port 3 after fine particled in the exhaust gas is removed and trapped in the catalyst device. Exhaust gas pressure upstream and downstream of the filters is measured for detecting a filter blocking condition. When any one of the filters is blocked, the diversing valve 9 is switched and the filter is heated by an electrically heating wire 101 which is arranged between a small heat capacity type first filter 81b diposed in the front portion of the filter and a second filter, and which is energized so as to heat the filter, thereby to burn fine particles in the front portion. Aftr a predetermined time period during which the electric wire 101 is heated, has elapsed, electrical energization is stopped, and the diversing valve is slightly opened so as to introduce exhaust gas. Thereby, flame is gradually shifted from the front porting to the rear portion of the filter for burning fine particles in the whole part of the filter to reform the filter.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively reduce a noxious exhaust gas created at burning of an exhaust gas fine particles collective filter for restoration, by bypassing an exhaust gas flow and reducing EGR at said restoration time of the filter. CONSTITUTION:Normally, some exhaust gas from an engine 1 runs from a branch pipe 7a into a particle collective fileter 8 for purification and then is discharged, while the other is led from the outlet of the filter 8 by a pipe 11 into a suction pipe 3 via a control valve 12 for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The control valve 12 is controlled by a controller 13 according to engine states. When the filter 8 is choked, the controller 13 changes over a switch valve 9 so that the exhaust gas flow may runsthrough a bypass pipe 7b to bypass the filter 8, and activates a combustor 10 to burn particles in the filter 8. In addition, the controller 13 throttles the control valve 12 to reduce the EGR and supplies a little exhaust gas which contains a combustion gas being recreated, thereby providing effective EGR.

    • PURPOSE:To aim at high energy by multiple electric discharge so as to obtain the device of abundant practicality stated in the headline by arranging plural piezo-electric elements in series and providing electrodes on their side faces and by applying alternating voltage to one of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:When alternating voltage of a predetermined frequency is applied to the positive terminal 601 of a connector 6 made of insulation resin and connected to a housing 15 of a housing cap 12 made of metal respectively, the voltage is applied to piezo-electric elements 1 through an electrode plate 7 and an electrifying spring 8. As a plurality of piezo-electric elements 1 of almost the same shape and having the same resonance cycle are connected together in series, each generated voltage is added to each other to become high voltage. Thus generated high voltage is applied to an electric spark gap between a central electrode 2 and a grounding electrode 3 through a thin plate disc 5, high voltage side electrodes 9, 10 and a seal glass 11, and spark is discharged. Then, high energy by multiple discharge can be obtained.
