    • PURPOSE:To accurately inspect whether or not where is a gap part at an inspection place by detecting impulsive vibration applied to the inspection part by a hammer part and processing the signal of the impulsive vibration. CONSTITUTION:The inspection surface 7 is given the impulsive vibration by the hammer part 1 and the vibration is detected by a sensor part 2. The signal of the impulsive vibration detected by the sensor part 2 is processed by a decision part 3 to decide whether or not there is a gap in the inspection surface 7 and the decision result of the decision part 3 is displayed on a display part 4. For example, a grout material is charged between a new inserted pipe and an existent pipe and if there is a gap part in the grout charged part, the detection waveform of the sensor part 2 becomes a vibration waveform which is long in attenuation time. Consequently, the output of an integrator 14 becomes higher than that in absence of the gap part and the number of comparators which exceed a set value among comparators 15a - 15f increases and the number of LEDs which illuminate among LEDs 22a - 22f increases, so whether or not there is a gap part and its size can accurately be detected. Therefore, the inspection is enabled without any individual difference in decision result.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a full-automatic steel pipe coating and covering apparatus which permits improving the operation efficiency and working environment, by designing the apparatus in such a manner that coating and covering operations for a steel pipe for city water, including an undercoating operation, a finish coating operation and a covering opeation of coating material-impregnated cloth can be carried out fully automatically as a systematized series of combined operations. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus for coating a steel pipe for city water with asphalt or coal tar enamel is provided with nozzles 10b, 10i for use in dropping in predetermined positions highly viscous coating materials onto an outer circumferential surface of a steel pipe, which is axially transferred at it is rotated, for the undercoating and finish coating of the same. A covering units 10g, 10h are also provided, which are used, between an undercoating operation and a finish coating operation, to cover the steel pipe with a cloth, which is impregnated with a highly viscous coating material, in a position spaced from the nozzles 10b, 10i with respect to the direction of the axis of the steel pipe. The steel pipe is transferred axially by a carriage 1 as it is rotated in the direction of an arrow A. The carriage 1 is moved on rials 5. A front or rear end of the steel pipe is sensed by position detectors 8Fa, 8Fb, to automatically control the driving, stopping and coating of the steel pipe.

    • PURPOSE:To make a series of steps associated to tack welding from transfer-in up to transfer-out approximately fully automatic by providing an automatic welding machine on roller conveyers for transfer-in and out of steel pipes and combining mechanisms for determining welding positions, adjusting dislocation between both materials and for claming, steel pipe rotating devices, etc. CONSTITUTION:According to the specification sizes of both steel pipes to be connected, the spacing between plural pairs of widthwise detachable revolving roller devices 7 and the rate of adjustment of dislocation in cradles 30a, 30b, one of which is adjustable in height, are set. A roller conveyor 1 is positioned at a predetermined height and one of the steel pipes then the other are advanced toward a supporting boom 2. They are stopped in the predetermined position where the trailing end of the former and the leading end of the latter sandwiches the welding center position. Next, the two steel pipes are held at the predetermined height by ascending of the devices 7, after which the alignment of dislocation and clamping are performed by the ascending of the cradles, the position aligning at both pawls 5 of steel pipe pressing devices and the descending of both cylinders 4. After a torch 14 is positioned, the groove is welded for about 50mm., and the steel pipes are rotated by the devices 7. Thereafter, intermittent welding is accomplished in a similar manner over the entire circumference.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus for automatically coating and covering a steel pipe for city water, which permits carrying out the whole of necessary operations including an undercoating operation and a finish coating operation by a mechanized system, by mechanizing an operation for covering the steel pipe with a coating material-impregnated cloth. CONSTITUTION:A steel pipe coating and covering operation is carried out as a steel pipe P is rotated and axially transferred at the same time. The outer circumferential surface of the pipe P is subjected to initially the undercoating of a highly viscous material, subsequently the winding of a cloth 20 impregnated with a highly viscous coating material and finally the finish coating of a highly viscous material. Accordingly, an automatic coating and covering apparatus for this purpose is provided at a front end thereof with a clamp arm 23, which has at its front end clamps 23d, 23e for gripping and releasing the tip of a cloth fed from a cloth supply roll 21, and which can be vertically oscillated to dip the cloth into a highly visoucs coating material conatined in a tank 22a disposed just under the clamp arm 23. The apparatus is also porivded with a catcher 24b adapted to grasp the tip of cloth, which is held by the clamps 23d, 23e, when the clamp arm 23 is positioned above the tank 22a; and feed the cloth ahead of the tip of the clamp arm 23 when the clams 23d, 23e are opened to release the cloth. The apparatus is further provided with nozzles 10b, 10i for applying a highly viscous coating material on the steel pipe in a position which is different from the position where the cloth fed to the pipe is pressed against the outer circumferential surface thereof.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent spring-up stress from acting upon a steel pipe during its working and make working efficiency higher by disposing a pinch-roll device which sandwiches the counter-working end of the steel plate and an elevating device for the above-mentioned device which follows up the spring-up of the working end, on one side of an edge-bending press. CONSTITUTION:A device 2 provided with a pair of upper and lower pinch rolls 21, 22 sandwiching the portion of a steel plate for production of steel pipes near its counter-working end in order to feed the above-mentioned steel plate being carried by way of a roller table 6 and a squeeze device 7 is disposed on one side of an edge-bending press 1 for said steel plate. An auxiliary transfer roll device 3 which ascends to the pass line at the charging of the steel pipe and sinks downward during pressing as well as an elevating device 4 which elevates the device 2 so as to prevent the stress by spring-up from acting upon the steel pipe by following up the spring-up of the counter-working end during pressing are disposed between the device 2 and the dies 11, 12 of the press 1. As a result, there is no need for carrying out the positioning of the steel plate each time and the improvement in working efficiency and edge-bending efficiency is made possible.
